The NRA is some evil, lying, no good corporate lobbyist group right?

Here's David Keene, the President of the NRA, speaking on the Senate hearings that took place this week and current 2nd amendment debate in general. Yes it's the NRA's "news" outlet, but agree or disagree with his views, I actually did some quick fact checking and I challenge anyone to find a non-truth in his statements.

Sadly enough, it appears the NRA is more truthful than our Presidential debates.

You want to form an opinion? There are many factors to consider, but here's the word from the horse's mouth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WBf0w4pn60

LaPierre being able to speak for the organization I think is half their problem (the other being gun makers having heavy influence, which is pretty much a necessary evil). He has a habit of spouting craziness, but even he doesn't lie, just uses really bad sources, and has really bad ideas, sometimes. David Keene is the kind of person they need as their public face and mouthpiece.

The NRA wields the power it does because the huge number of Americans that are members and the money and time they donate. Want to be a popular organization? Protect a popular cause. Even with 50+ years of media attacks the NRA is still going strong.

AW! You do know who sits on the board and funds the NRA don't you? It is not any of the members or their membership fees.

Well let's see, NRA annual membership is ~$35. Assuming every member was a normal one (which isn't the case, as there are many on much higher tiers of membership that stretch into thousands of dollars), with around 4.3 million members, members are, at the absolute, provably false minimum, contributing 150.5 million dollars each year.

Granted I'm sure the gun industry as a whole contributes more, but those tens of millions fund quite a bit.

In any case, I actually don't have much issue with the gun industry being in charge. Happy coincidence that protecting their business interests means protecting our 2nd amendment rights.

Remember those happy days when Southern States rights folk coincidently protected slavery? If the gun industry continues to value profits over the lives of children, the second amendment will be tossed out the window. All it will take is for the notion to cement that protecting gun ownership is like protecting assholes instead of the rights of responsible citizens. You assholes will bring about what you fear.

Why do you see hate in the best advise you will ever get? Tell me it's not because you hate your brain defect for confusing my presentation of the road you are on with cursing you for your direction. You are going to create what you fear because you are brain dead and you are going to do it even though I warned you. I can I hate what makes me laugh myself silly for feeling so much pity for folk like you. You are a wounded animal who will react with terror to even the kindest of help. You poor poor bastards are pathetic but I am bound to try to help you. You skunk spraying me isn't going to work. I care too much about you to let your childish insults bother me. My job is to help you to see. The fact that you are hopeless doesn't bother me. We are waiting for Grace to cap your knees.

Now, now Moonie, no reason to wish harm on me. I love you and just want what's best for you and this country.

Sorry to tell but conservatives live in a bubble because they are pain averse and that pain aversion leads to pain, both the fear that it's coming and the certainty that it actually is because we cause our fears to become reality. And of course you want what is best for me and the country. The problem is that you are deluded as to what the best is. That's why I'm here to help. But all I can do is to inform you that you are in this condition. I can't make you see it. But you never know about Grace. She is a mystery.

David Keene urges more weapons on the street to protect the kids.

I'm shocked the NRA wants more guns on the streets...shocked I tell you!

And then he pivots to mental health resource needs. OK that makes sense

THen he argues that the Presidents plan to protect schools isn't enough...noooooo really? there are 130,000 some odd schools in this country (his words) how the hell do you expect to arm each and every one? do you know how much money that would cost?

Do you know that is EXACTLY what the NRA wants? to spend money on school protection?

I think Sandyhook was David Keene's wet dream.

Lobbyism is just another word for corruption. And thats the entire purpose of NRA. They got one single interest only, and thats to safeguard the weapon industry.

They never cared about american lives or anyone else.

The people in fear are those trying to ban guns.

Think about that for a year. Pro gun people are not afraid of guns. Anti Gun dopes like you are.

Proof of the great proverb that a donkey loaded with books remains a donkey. And since you seem to have problems with comprehension let me make it clear that you are just such a donkey. You carry some facts, unfortunately insufficient for the problem at hand, and from them draw conclusions that are absurd. So let me help you.

Pro gun people are as afraid of guns pointed at them as anybody else. If not so, evolution has a way of insuring they are darwined out. These are as afraid of their children, or themselves being murdered also, as anybody else. That's why folk who have guns for protection have them, to create a feeling they can prevent what they fear from happening. So let's not pretend to be stupid. Gun folk fear other people's guns and have their own to protect themselves or at the least to create a feeling however delusional, that they are safer having a gun than not. The anti-gun folk make only a slightly different calculation. Their idea of protecting themselves from the guns of others is to take those guns away. Each point of view has its pluses and minuses and, when consciously recognized, could form the bedrock of a rational discussion different from the one sided one I'm having with you.

So neither side is actually all that worked up about guns themselves as they are about bad people who have them. That's what everybody fears and would like to do something about.

Now the gun nuts don't want to give anything to the gun grabbers to ease their fears so the gun grabbers are going to make them pay. It's the price of intransigence and is a law of nature just like we know a fool will do foolish things. He has to because he is a fool. Gun nuts, like everybody else on the planet hate themselves and the way they will make themselves suffer is by acting in a way to insure their guns are taken away. It is a law that you create what you fear.

So when it comes right down to it, you are just childishly pissed off at the facts, facts that are immutable and this will not change until you face the roots of your fears, the terror of being at the mercy of your parents when you were young, the fact that at a moment's notice they could turn on you for reasons you could not anticipate or comprehend. So now that you have been given wisdom that is tremendously valuable and infinitely rare, what are you going to do with it. Would you care to know my prediction?
