i cried first time i saw it.

i was watching it with my rents. when the old couple died on the bed, i looked over and saw my dad holding my mom and i haven't seen him cry too much.

it just hit me.

yea to me it's simply the same old love story told in a slightly different manner. nothing special about it.
i don't cry for movies.

You've clearly never seen a Gamera movie.
Or one by Coleman Francis.

You'll either cry tears of blood as you rip your eyes out, or else simply cry for the sweet release of death.

well that would be different. crying out of torture is quite different.... not crying due to too much estrogen. ;)
Crying in real life is different altogether. But movies? hah
but I've never even heard of those two people mentioned.

I didn't cry. I've been watching a lot of Korean melodramas and some of those are super sad and totally worth crying about. The Notebook did not have the music to backup the on-screen drama.

I made it maybe five minutes before I turned it off, even the intro credits were just too sappy and sloooow, it was literally a guy rowing in some boat for five minutes. You couldn't even see anything around him because it was foggy, just rowing!

I am a little weenie girl and I didn't cry. I never understood the big deal, either. But I do like the movie.

My wife got it, I've seen most of it. It's a bunch of cliche garbage followed up with a very predictable ending that is supposed to somehow suprise you.

I fell asleep, but I noticed a small pile of tissue next to me when I woke up. The wife had been crying her eyes off apparently out apparently.

I hate to say that I cried when I watched it with my wife. The movie was cheesy, predictable, and all the other adjectives people have mentioned. Throughout the movie I was telling myself not to be moved at the end - I could see it coming a mile away. But still, somehow, at the end I broke down. Aaarrrggghhh!

Never saw it. There are a few movies I cry at each time I watch... Steel Magnolias and Forrest Gump. Of course there is always Schindler's List, but that is a given.

I have heard both women AND men said they got emotional with The Notebook. Guess I should watch it.

I don't mind chick flicks, but I thought the movie was simply boring.

Never saw it. The only way you could get me to watch it is if a very attractive woman dragged me along to see it...

Haha that would be a good reason to watch it.
