i agree. the xbox controller is wayy too fat. really awkward. the n64 controller is really good, but it isnt quite as good as the dual analog controller. (think C buttons). the ps2 controller is just awesome, great control (maybe slightly bad on the R and L buttons, but not really) and the shock is great.

I liked the N64 controller. I like the Saturn controller more, though.

It was revolutinary at the time...analog? Expansion port (rumble)? But PS2's dual analog/shock just perfected it.

The only problem I ever had with my controller was when it totally stopped working. Admittedly, it stopped working after I yanked it out of the controller port and threw it at about 50 mph at the wall because the computer cheats at WWF wrestling. :)

Oh, and the Saturn analog is my favorite.

For the people who are saying it's an XBox controller...I guess fanboiness knows no bounds. ;)

I'd have to agree, the n64 controller was pretty dang nice. and to complement it with Zelda - Ocarina of Time.... that's some good times right there. can't remember how many times I beat that game.

For shooters...I liked the N64 controller the best out of all. The combination of trigger and joystick, and diamond layout of the 4 yellow "C" buttons were the best.

Tie after that is Gamecube and Xbox Small controllers. I find it amazing the number of people who will like one, and knock the other, when they are basically the same controller, the Xbox has the two extra buttons for Xbox Live and that's it. The big controller isn't for me though.

Never liked Playstation controllers of any variety.

Also liked the 6 button Genesis controller, NES controller, and Saturn controller (which is being rereleased in Japan as a USB combatible controller by Sega).

Oh, and the Gun, of course :)

Kane of the WWE even said the "Duke" (original) Xbox controller was too big for anybody roffles

Yeau I agree the N64 contoller was very good. It felt very comfortable plus I loved the C-buttons and their layout. Going back they are kind of small and hard by the press ...maybe concaving and enlarging slightly would of been better? Yes the control stick gritted and loosened up(green one was the worst while my OG grey one is still decent) which was its only downside. Im talking the Nintendo brand not some generic POS get that right since they usually turn out feeling horrible!

I also dug the NES Advantage and Max.

Who cares if it is better for shooters when you can play fps on computer with mouse and keyboard? :p I know you'll bring up Goldeneye.

I'm a fan of Nintendo controllers. The SNES controller was one of the best. The N64 controller was a little awkward at first since I didn't realize that the middle prong was meant to be held. I was so confused as to how to control the joystick from the left prong. Even now, I think the design is a bit strange-looking but once it's in your hands, it works great. Even the Gamecube controller, I like pretty well. I don't know what it is about the PlayStation controllers; they just aren't that comfortable to me. Xbox (small, not the huge one) is pretty good, though.

Edit: The N64 was and still is the only controller I could play console first-person shooters with. My brother is always trying to get me to play Halo with him on Xbox but I just can't do it. It just isn't natural like the Turok-style controls on N64. I'll be the first to admit, I was skeptical of the Turok controls, but now I'm a huge advocate and try to duplicate them on all console shooters. If I can't, I can't play the game.

I think maybe the reason why some people don't like the Dual Shock is because it's so compact. Probably designed for Japanese hands or something, because it's even smaller than the Xbox-S. The base of my palms go out farther than the grips because they're so short. As well, I thought the sticks were mounted too close to the middle-bottom, and consequentially made your thumbs go out almost perpendicular to your hands. Despite all this, I think the Dual Shock is still a good controller. Just has a few minor drawbacks for me. My Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power PC gamepad, however, is based on the Dual Shock layout, but appears to be made for slightly bigger hands, which I like.

As for the Xbox... I can't pass judgement on that because I havn't played enough. Played about 5 hours of Halo and some other assorted stuff and it still felt awkward in my hands.

I own a dreamcast and I put up with its controller to play some of the great DC exclusive games, but it still never felt comfortable to me. I couldn't get over how my fingertips had nowhere to go but the back of the controller. Most controllers at least let some of your fingers to wrap all the way around the grip, but not the DC. It felt like it wanted to slip out of my hands sometimes.

I hated it. D-Pad was hard to use and rarely used. Joystick hurt my thumb. I felt like the joystick had WAY too much room to "wiggle." I always liked the dual shock. X-Box looks good but I've never played an X-Box before so I can't comment.
