I was talking to my good buddies about this tonight. this week, alone, has made the NFL (more than usual, mind you), a drama fest filled with bitches and bullshit.

I honestly hope there's a strike. I hope 1+ seasons are cancelled. fuck all these pre-madonnas, all these owners and worthless organizations...just let it die.

i agree with polamalu too. they need to set something up. sure fine the nasty illegal hits. not just on defence players but on running backs who use the helmet as a weapon.

the NFL is dieing. slowly but it is. they need to fire Roger and hire someone who played the game.

I assume you mean dying. Are you kidding me? The NFL has never been more popular. TV ratings are through the roof, higher than it's ever been.

Lost a lot of interest in the NFL lately. Too many freaking commercials. Does the NFL package via satellite have a ton of commercials like the major networks? If not, it's probably worth the money.

the only way to avoid the commercials is to simply not watch football games

You wanna give him a late hit penalty for that, fine, but to fine him and call that a vicious hit is borderline retarded. A 4 year old could have taken that hit.

You could see harrison look up and realize that the ball was already gone, then ease up on his tackle. If anything brees should get a fine for diving.....

You mean this hit?
Watch his head when he raises his arms to make the tackle. That is the issue.
True, he didn't finish the tackle...didn't drive Brees into the dirt. But that technique he uses with his head, arcing forward like a porpoise, is the problem. I don't think the overall hit was vicious, but the league wants that technique gone. And I agree, it needs to go.

Remove facemasks. That should eliminate any desire to lead with the helmet. Would make the game comically more interesting too.

i disagree immensely, that hit should be 100% legal.

how the hell do you expect him to try and hit brees in that situation if he wants to try and wrap his arms aroudn brees' arms to try and knock the ball out? he is going to have to lean forward to do this, and if he doesn't, he won't be as efficient.

Watch it again, he headbutted him. They don't even allow headbutts in UFC let alone freaking football. It was a clear headbutt, there is no place for that sht in any sport except street fighting.

LOL @ comparing headbutting in a sport where helmets are used to a sport that doesn't use helmets.

yea i still have to disagree 100%, he didn't try to headbutt anyone, he tried to lead with his upper body, and when you lead with your shoulders and bring em forward, it brings your neck and head forward with you.

and why are you comparing headbutting in a sport that people wear full body pads, including a helmet, to a sport where there are no pads at all? that is just stupid.

also i own an authentic nfl helmet and the 'headbutt' performed in the video above would hardly be felt.

I've mainly been watching the RedZone channel the past two seasons because there's no commercials and all action in games. The number of penalties called in games now is mind-numbing to the point that it really gets in the way of the flow of the game and it must really be hard for QB's to find their rhythm. I think it's a combination of stupid shit done by players and tighter rules, but games shouldn't be called like they're NBA games.

You can lean forward and still keep you head up.
