Actually a small group of Americans sent that message. The other group rested and stayed at home not realizing the importance of midterm elections. That's was the failure. So no, there was not a clear message sent other than people who should have voted just didn't and now the next 2 years are going to be a stalemate in the US.

Not bothering to vote is sending a message. If you can't be bothered to vote out the obstructionist then you are ok with their actions. Whinning about something and then doing nothing about it just means your whines can be ignored.

Heh, it's funny how mad statists get when someone suggests punishing one of their masters for something.

I don't think Obama qualifies for impeachment over anything specific, but it's hilarious the level of emo-rage just the suggestion of holding shitbag politicians accountable for anything stokes in those busy licking Obama's boots.

Your projections demonstrate that it would be horrible if you were in charge. Continue to just belittle people with inferences about their motives, rather than the obvious ones.

Or to put it another way, no one is mad at the idea of Obama being impeached. They are, however, amused at anyone asserting that it would or could happen in the next two years. It would be a PR disaster and backfire spectacularly in 2016.

No one is mad though. That's just you projecting how you would feel in a similar situation.

It is possible the president is responding to changed circumstances with a certain rigidity because no one ever stood in his way before. Most of his adult life has been a smooth glide. He had family challenges and an unusual childhood, but as an adult and a professional he never faced fierce, concentrated resistance. He was always magic. Life never came in and gave it to him hard on the jaw. So he really doesn’t know how to get up from the mat. He doesn’t know how to struggle to his feet and regain his balance. He only knows how to throw punches. But you can’t punch from the mat.

He only knows how to do what he’s doing.

In the meantime he is killing his party. Gallup this week found that the Republicans for the first time in three years beat the Democrats on favorability, and also that respondents would rather have Congress lead the White House than the White House lead Congress.

A few weeks ago a conservative intellectual asked me: “How are we going to get through the next two years?” It was a rhetorical question; he was just sharing his anxiety. We have a president who actually can’t work with Congress, operating in a capital in which he is resented and disliked and a world increasingly unimpressed by him, and so increasingly predatory.

Anyway, for those who are young and not sure if what they are seeing is wholly unusual: Yes, it is wholly unusual.
I managed to live through the terms of President Nixon and President Carter. And I'm confident that I'll live through Obama's.

I terms of expectations for the next two years, I think that Peggy Noonan is correct... more of the same.

Personally, one of the greatest political comebacks that I've observed was that of President Clinton. He was a politician that evolved his political philosophy while he was in office and ended up with much success...

The ability to evolve and change as well as to participate in the political process with people whose philosophies differed from his were all qualities that Clinton exhibited.

Obama, not so much...

Clinton never had a problem. The Media is not the nation. Most of us were really happy with the economy and the nation was thriving. Most of us were too damn busy.
The BS that Newt tried to push is what made me leave the republican party. I think you need to read and watch less conservative news when it comes to your facts about the presidency. You have to view Clintons presidency as the first with real media penetration 24/7. Even the elder bush years were less fraut with political factual machinations. Seems that crap was introduced into the mainstream when Carl Rove made it canon..

The entire current climate has less to do with whos president than where the money comes from.

Follow the money...
