3:2 is better for landscape use on a single app, but 16:10 is better for dual windows or portrait use. I guess with Google's love for giant bars a physical 3:2 would translate more to 16:10 useable in landscape...

16:9 is just too lopsided, yes.

I really like 3:2 in portrait mode as well since it fits comics and mangas better and more closely resembles the aspect ratio of books. And when web browsing in portrait you have a bit more width.

And I never understood the desire to run multiple windows on a small tablet screen. I guess some have uses for that, but I haven't.

it got fishy at volantis and then 5gb of ram.

Supposedly HTC is working on something by that name. I just don't know if it's related to a Nexus phone or something else.

Yeah, 5GB of RAM is where they blew it. He should have said 3GB to keep it believable. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Google sticks with 2GB again.

Ugh... I'm deleting what I posted here. I posted an old story from Android Police from a month ago that someone just reposted on Reddit for some reason. This news is stale, so I removed it. Sorry about that.

evleaks came out and said he was fooled. It was 100% fake.

The source was 100% fake. But much of the information he used was already floating around as rumors on the Internet. The only things the hoax might be wrong on is the RAM and aspect ratio. Or he could be wrong on everything. Not sure yet. :)

Modern American comics are 1.54:1 so I think 1.60:1 ratio of most Android tablets is a better fit than the 1.33:1 of the iPad.

With Android 16:10 tablets you have empty spaces on the top and bottom. With the 4:3 iPads you have empty spaces on the sides. With the 3:2 Surface Pro 3 it damn near fits like a glove. :)

True. But at 800 grams, the SP3 is way too heavy.

Naturally... which brings us full circle back to the beginning. A 3:2 Nexus 8 or 9 would be really awesome. :)

Or even a Surface Mini if that unicorn ever gets released.

Haha. Yeah, I think I misunderstood your post so my reply didn't make as much sense as I had hoped. :)

I seriously doubt that the N8/N9 will be 3:2 though. I won't say zero chance but I would be shocked if Google threw developers another curveball by adopting a new 3:2 aspect ratio for tablet apps.

They need to standardize on 16:9, and phase out 4:3(Please God, make this die quickly!), 3:2, 5:4, and 16x10.

If there is not going to be a new 7 inch Nexus, what should one do is you are looking for a 7 or 8 inch tablet these days? I've heard Samsung ones have ordinary battery lives.
