The next Bill Gates / Steve Jobs just died @ age 16 RIP

sad. 🙁

One must be hot shit when a guy like Gates "instructs his physicians to adopt every kind of measure for your treatment."

This reminds me of the recent thread: "Do you get sad when people whom you don't know die?"

This makes me sad--and this thread is the first that I have ever heard of this person.

Did she have health problems prior to her death?

As of 2011, at the age of 16, Arfa Karim is studying at Lahore Grammar School Paragon Campus in her second year of A Levels. She suffered from cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure on December 22, 2011 and was admitted to Lahore's Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in critical condition.[2][8][9][10]
On January 2, 2012 Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani visited the hospital with his daughter Fiza Batol Gilani to inquire about the health of Arfa Karim Randhawa.[11]
On January 9, 2012, Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft, has made contact with Arfa's parents, and directed his doctors to adopt "every kind of measure" for her treatment.[12]
On January 13, 2012, The condition of world's youngest MCP Arfa Karim is improving and some parts of her brain have shown signs of improvement. Arfa fell desperately ill last month and doctors say she has suffered brain damage, leaving her in a coma at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Lahore. Her father, Amjad Karim Randhawa, said Microsoft had raised the possibility of flying Arfa to the US for care.[13]
On January 14, 2012 16 years old Arfa Karim passed away[14] at 9:50 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore.[15]

I just hope she died following her dreams and not someone else's. Cardiac arrest could be a sign of a stress related issue.

In the end, she did influence a lot in her short life 🙁

That's terrible. I've treated a handful of patients that were just into their teens (or pre-teen) that had severe heart issues and histories of heart attacks, it's really sad.

It says cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure. So I assume the seizure is what started the problem, and not a preexisting heart condition.

I totally agree, but I don't think one can be forced into a MCP @ the age of 9.

2 weeks ago I was on a halter monitor or w/e ... Im only 24... I could only imagine what its like at those young ages.

Yeah, weird how it came out of no where, but thats how the world turns, unfortunately :|

Actually, I would tend to think it was the other way around, that the seizure brought to light the cardiac problems that hadn't reared their ugly heads already.

Remember, unlike in older people that suffer from environmental/lifestyle/etc. reasons for heart disease occurring, young people typically have an underlying cardiac problem when they die from said problems. They're too young to have decades of smoking, lack of exercise, too much fat laden food ingestion cause the cardiac problem that leads to their death.

Instead, the cardiac problem is usually congenital and is undiscovered/undetected until the fatal event occurs, but has always existed, just silently.

IMHO, india is a terrible place to grow up, considering all the pollution and the stress that they put on their kids to succeed

If I understand correctly, there is Microsoft Cerf. Pro. Developer and Microsoft Cert. IT Pro.... Im not sure what she was, but I wonder if she was able to have any word in Windows 8... That would be ... idk the word

Probably contributing factors that resulted in her untimely demise. And also a undiagnosed pre-existing heart condition. RIP.

LAHORE: Chairman of Microsoft, billionaire Bill Gates has contacted the parents of the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Arfa Karim and offered to bear the expenses of her treatment in the US, Geo News reported.

According to Arfa's father, Amjab Karim Randhawa, Bill Gates telephoned him and expressed his wish about Arfa's treatment in the US.

Gates has also directed his doctors to adopt every kind of measure for the treatment of the young genius Microsoft professional.

Gates' doctors contacted Arfa's Pakistani doctors and received details about the illness through the internet.

Meanwhile, Pakistani doctors are of the view that Arfa is on ventilator, therefore, it will be hard to shift her to any other hospital.

Arfa Karim was handling a project of NASA before she fell ill.

Arifa Karim has been in intensive care after suffering an epileptic seizure and cardiac arrest.

Her father said the doctors told him that the brain of her daughter is still working and they no longer consider her case as hopeless.

According to the doctors, he said, EEG report had rekindled hope for her life but treatment facilities are not available in Pakistan.
He said that the reports of Arfa were sent to various countries from where he gets positive response.

Born in 1995, Arfa Karim got the honor of World’s Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional when she was only 9 years old in 2004. Bill Gates, the Chairman of Microsoft, invited Arfa to visit the Microsoft Headquarters in the USA in the age of 10 only.

Later, in August 2005, Arfa was also honored by the Pakistan Government for the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology which she received from then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. She was also honored with Salaam Pakistan Youth Award in 2005 which has been set up by Pakistan’s only Nobel laureate Dr Abdul Salam. Moreover, Arfa has won the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance.

Arfa has represented her country Pakistan on a variety of international fora. She was also included as the honorable guest by IT Professionals of Dubai for two weeks stay in Dubai. During that trip, Arfa was awarded by a number of medals and awards from various tech societies and computer companies working in Dubai.

Amazingly, she has been certified for flying a plane at a flying club in Dubai at the age of 10.

Arfa also participated in Microsoft keynote session in the Tech-Ed Developers Conference held in Barcelona, in 2006. The theme of the conference was “Get ahead of the game” and Arfa was in fact a great example of being ahead of the game.
