yeah whats with 4.5+" phones these days, just want 4.3" with thin bezel. Tired of huge phone. Sitting out this gen. Sat out last gen because thick bezel. They should be able to put 4.3" in Atrix 4G sized phone. That's all I'm asking. That, and 2GB of RAM, and that's all I need. And Dual core A15. 4.3", 2GB of RAM, and Dual core A15 and that's all I need. And a good battery. It needs a good battery. That's all I need, 4.3", 2GB of RAM, A15, good battery, and microSD slot supporting 128GB+. That's all I need.

actually, not exactly:
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-desire-x/#specs

aside from not needing a different phone, I would seriously consider that. But yeah, it's not high performance, but probably plenty fast enough.

Except that phone just came out and it's a PoS.
Today HTC announced the Desire X, a device that resembles their higher end One S, but is targeted at budget minded consumers. According to The Verge, it has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play inside. Unlike the Snapdragon S4 SoC we're familiar with, the 28 nanometer model with a pair of 1.5 GHz Krait cores and an Adreno 225 graphics processor, the S4 Play (MSM8x25) is a 45 nanometer SoC that uses a pair of 1 GHz ARM Cortex A5 cores and Adreno 203 graphics. Performance wise, ARM says that a Cortex A5 can deliver 1.57 DMIPS/MHz. To put that into some perspective, the Cortex A8 delivers 2.0 DMIPS/MHz, and the Cortex A9 that's inside many of today's devices can pump out 2.50 DMIPS/MHz.
Based on that statement, it sounds to me like last year's Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation/Evo 3D/Rezound will beat that Desire X phone. And they all have SD slots.

Marketed as an "S4" chip to confuse people into thinking they're getting "Krait" when in fact they're getting a year old phone.
Color me surprised regarding Qualcomm's numbering scheme. Even us tech nerds can't understand it, talkless of John Q Public.

Save your money and buy a Galaxy S II, or an HTC Sensation.

If they would of kept the resolution at 720p rather than 768p the width could of been even smaller, perhaps 66 or 67mm wide. Pity they went a wider screen, the rest of the specs are perfect.

I'm the opposite.
I think width are much more important.
I do everything in portrait mode except for watching movies so the wider width helps.
Keyboard will be wider, viewing webpages is better.
Thats why I like iPhones 3:2 ratio much better until the latest iPhone 5.

I know. I can't believe that phone was so bad. I thought about it as an upgraded Desire. What would an X mean? When I saw dual core, I said hey maybe not 2 Kraits, but at least Scorpion cores? That got me thinking HTC Sensation specs... nope.

Not even that. Worse than A9 and A8 chips. Probably like two ARM11 chips smashed together to create a dual core piece of crap.

I was really hoping this would hit Verizon. If not this then i wonder what will be the next big post-gs3 phone for VZW.

I hope it does well. I'm not too optimistic, it will likely stay on 4.0 for a while and I just don't see how LG can suddenly fix all of their problems just in time to release this phone. However, if this is indeed a nexus device, I'll probably get one. For the very high end, it's SoC will lead the Android pack at least til SGS4 comes out. Traditionally Nexus never featured top shelf SoC's, I'm hoping that to ensure compatibility with 5.0 they had to step up.

I've had my HD2 for 30 months now, I would hate to wait til SGS4 but nothing since the SGS2 had much "want" factor for me. IMO LG deserves to land a good selling phone, they weren't afraid to experiment with high end SoC's in the past. A Nexus device is exactly what they need. I'll likely pass if it their standard skinned stuff but I would do a 180 if it's a Nexus device, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The 64 gb part of the wild-ass rumor may also explain HTC's mini refresh. Nexus One X+ anyone? Tegra 3 is already well covered in AOSP...

get over it. CDMA is a pain in the ass to deal with for these phones. you can bet there will be a GSM only Nexus.

It's up to Sprint and Verizon whether or not they want to pick this one up.

Yea, who am I to want the best android experience on the best network. What was I thinking?!! Let me go flog myself for thinking of such blasphemy...

Rumors of a 5" HTC phone with a 1080p screen possibly going to Verizon under the name Droid Incredible X.

A 5" screen is much larger than I want to haul around every day. Was hoping for something with high-end specs in the 4.3" - 4.7" space.

Sounds like a fairly tall order.

You know how it goes. X, Y, and Z; pick two.

By the time your perfect device comes out, some of those things might not be all that good spec-wise any more. Then again if you need more than 2 GB for a phone, I think something is going horribly wrong :p

No MSD? Man, I think this is the new era of non-upgradable phones. I will be using my sgs3 forever I guess.

That puzzles me. HTC One X, no SD Card, this phone no SD Card, I know about the iPhone...it's Apple and their greed but really...being able to backup to your SD card and restore apps to your new device is amazingly convenient.

I was really hoping this would hit Verizon. If not this then i wonder what will be the next big post-gs3 phone for VZW.

Maybe the Note 2 but that is still unknown. After that I would guess the Galaxy S4 or something.
