Or again, you've spent so long with it that you've forgotten what everything else is supposed to taste like

As it happens.....I also eat cannolis and punkin pie, AND, I can identify each one INDIVIDUALLY. So there.()🙂

But I will admit, you WERE born on the better side of The Pond.

+ music library management.

I'm just saying that maybe it's a good idea if Winamp didn't continue to be the Steven Tyler of music players.

Lame, i wanted a desktop program not a tile.

What are you talking about?

Anyway, nice to see them continuing but I'm sorry Winamp, after years and years of 2.91 I switched to AIMP.

While I'm here, someone explain the need for a media library to me. Is it just so you can see the cd cover?

It takes a while to get used to it or to discover how and why to use it.
It's kind of like a modular playlist with some useful features, like rating files and playing only those with rating of x etc..

You don't really need it, and using classic playlists works just as well. There are some possibilities though.

Hmm, ratings could be useful maybe...don't really need them myself, I can remember what I like most. I have a lot of custom playlists too with my favorites.

Otherwise the only time I have to deal with a music library is for loading music on my ipod using itunes...but it's kinda painful.

I wanted to create several playlists for at least five years - and never got to do it, probably because maintaining them would be humongous pain in the ass.
With library, I can play everything by an artist with three clicks. Or one specific genre.
And there's no need to redo the whole playlist - you just click somewhere and select "rescan watched folders", and stuff gets added automatically.

Sorting via tags, creating logical CD's, making random playlists of X size for filling space on a MP3 player.

The way I use it, it's basically a dynamic playlist creator, a "sorter" of sorts. It's an easy, in-content way of quickly accessing all my music library, without having to open the DREADFUL windows explorer.

The company being Nullsoft? They've been bought more than 10 years ago.

The company being AOL? Well they just sold Winamp to a new company.

Also, what do smartphones have to do Winamp? Sure, many people found new ways of listening to their music, not just on their PCs, but Winamp was and has always been about listening to high quality music on a PC, and it was born when that wasn't a reality and you needed a dedicated machine to do it properly, like a hi-fi or a discman or whatever.

Hmm, maybe that's it, I kinda like Win Explorer. I figure I spent less time putting my music in folders and subfolders than managing mp3 tags.

Want to hear rock? Drop rock folder into playlist window. Want to hear only Rolling Stones? Drag over album folders and drop them into playlist window.

As I said, way too much of an hassle: drag and drop, having two windows open, it's too problematic and there's absolutely no reason to do it.

Well, as I said before, I do think a new theme and more theme flexibility is in order, so in that regard, it's kind of broken...

a bit...
