I have always hated the cluttered interface and all crap that came with it but the new version is not that bad anymore.

be that true as it may. ive always hated real player. but ive been usin real one for a comple months now when a i could only find file that were real media ones. and i have to say i am pleased it works a lot better

Oh wow. An improved version of Realplayer. Oh, wait, I think if I hadnt flushed the toilet, I would have had something better than Realplayer in my toilet.
 
I refuse to install RealPlayer on my systems; it's a worthless, steaming, fecal excuse for software.. (if someone sends me a video in RealPlayer format, I just don't bother..)

same here, i just ignore .rp formats. it's not so much the player, as it is the spyware aspect.... f u real media!

does anybody else simply find the quality to usually be pretty sh|tty too? Bandwidth for bandwidth, I'll take QuickTime or .mpg over Real any day. Not that I have Real installed -- I just use my roommate's computer 😛
 
The radio station I wanted to listen to needed RealPlayer.
I was pleasantly suprised to find they had cleaned it up. I still prefer the other formats.
 
RP One seems to be even more persistent spyware than the previous versions - it insists on constantly running something called "Tkbell.exe," which appears to be a version checker and makes me crazy. I went back to V8.0.
 
I wish someone could enable the other players to play real media files. I get a lot of southpark stuff, and random things here and there in rp formats.
 
Bah, This version of RP digs itself deeper into your system than any version yet. I'm using an older version, only because I need to stream some real media stuff pretty much every day.

F**kin eh. It's people like some of the people in this thread that real player continues to see support elsewhere! If it's in RP format I'm not going to be hearing/seeing it, because it just can't be good enough to warrant the install of RP again. Ever again.

Their software is SH*T. The worst EVER and they have NOTHING on quicktime, or any format for that matter. I have never in my life seen a good video run through RP. The southpark episodes are the only ones that are decent at all and they're cartoons :|

I'd settle for a converter to turn it into a .mpeg or something similar.

Personally, after using RealOne for sometime, I removed it, and now I'm using my PC without Real on my system. I don't mind the penalty of not being able to play my realmedia files.... as long as I can keep my PC clean from the crap Real dishes out.

It has spyware.
A friend of mine this weekend insisted on installing RealPlayer on his system so he could run some media from a website. I said OK, but I want to test something. So I installed AdAware on his system beforehand and determined that his system was free of spyware. Then I installed Real and ran AdAware again. This time it came back with some 25 instances of spyware, mostly BDE.

 
Real makes no qualms about it, if you accept their license and install it, you're accepting that they are spying on you.

I actually found one once on the web somewhere. I didn't bother with it though because -- get this -- it requires RealPlayer to be installed on your system. PFFFFFFT, fvck that! What's the point!
 
Most of my classes are taught over the internet, so im sorta used to real player. Its still a bloated POS, but it works most of the time 😀
