The new name for hacker: "computer security researcher"

I find it funny that in this article, they describe a person that guessed a username and password to a secure site, and posted this password to a newsgroup on the web a "computer security researcher". Granted, the guy attempted to notify Comcast before posting it ... but what law says "it's not illegal as long as the other guy knows what you're up to"? I think Comcast is retarded for leaving their system open like that, but come on ... if it was a 15 year old kid that had done this, he would've been called a hacker. Nice double-standard.
