Not a bad idea. Of course, it depends on how big your projects are. I just think attitudes like fanatical meat's are silly. Sometimes I watch those shows where a family is looking for a retirement home and every time I wonder wtf? They 'need' 4 bedrooms and 3 baths for guests. Oh and, at 'least ' 3500 sq ft. "We'll have to totally gut the kitchen because it's not white like I want." How the heck did these people get to retirement age without people on the street pointing and laughing?

We posted simultaneously. I have 1087 sq feet. Two in the house.

Don't get me started on this tiny house craze. I think a lot feeding it is Millanials can't afford a proper sized house for various reason so they're being told or justifying why a tiny tricked out house is better.

Sorry to divert
You say this like people making choices that they want to make is somehow a bad thing. I don't understand.

I have a feeling some buy them but don't really want them it's just a good talking point. This is an opinion all are free to disagree.

Plumbing is a non issue. Tiny homes don't have to be built on a trailer. I've lived in a travel trailer in the past and aside from projects needing more space, have never felt constrained. I just think there are a significant number of people who have houses way larger than they need.

well hey, i have no sympathy for stupid either but that doesn't mean that everyone who would prefer a smaller space is a d-bag hipster millennial a-hole.

My point is equally due to the job market, on demand economy or an app developer that gets laid off every 6-9 months and image.

From what I've seen of trailer parks (not much... but a few times I visited like a Zoo) they contain the most self-righteous yet lazy people you'll ever meet.

Yes that's reasonably fine and I'll agree if you have some land in the woods this could be a fun weekend home but living in something like that long term is silly, just rent a studio apartment a tiny home will never carry any resale value and if you just want a crash pad why do you want to fix stuff or go to the gym to shower or cart you trash off somewhere because you have no room

Any resale value that's not net negative is still more than the zero you get from "just rent a studio apartment." In the end the fallacy that houses are an "investment" is a major part of the problems Americans have with economics. Certainly an expectation that buying a house inevitably should provide you a post-inflation capital gain above the opportunity cost to invest in something else is a major problem in the U.S.

And a tiny house is fine depending on your needs. If you have six kids then probably not, if you're an empty nester and want to lead a simplified life somewhere it looks like a great solution.
