The new iPhone 3G

SSSnail

In case you haven't heard, July 11th is when Steve will unleash the new iPhone 3G upon the world. Steve's keynote.

I was never much of an iProducts kinda guy, and personally don't own any Apple products, but I think I will fall to the dark side with this offering. It's just too tempting...

Will you succumb to the dark side? (Or the white side for $299 😀)

Edit: Here's another thought for consideration, you're getting an 8GB iPod touch for $200, AND a phone.

No. AT&T is seriously fucking this up.
I'm going to pick up a used firt gen iPhone to use on TMobile once the new software is released and hopefully the prices drop.

I'll be getting one. I've wanted one since they came out, and I've been waiting and waiting.

nah. i'm fine with my old but perfectly functional nokia 3100. doesn't do much apart from let me talk and send sms, but what more do you truely need out of a phone?

I have to say it is tempting...but i use my work phone exclusively for both work and private...so it is not worth my money to carry something else along. I've thought of getting an older model and unlocking it like some of my colleagues to run on the T-Mobile network (my company has a contract with them)...but in the end it hasn't been worth the effort.

For my wife's next phone...very possibly if she wants it.

How.

I was VERY tempted, but my parents are kind enough to let me just pay my share of their family plan despite me being out on my own. So $25 a month vs $100 a month for the iphone...that seems like a no brainer to me.

Besides, i got the Samsung Glyde, and while it isnt as good as the iphone from an interface standpoint it is more comfortable to hold and use as a phone. And it is on the Verizon network which is far better in my area. AT&T is currently offering very limited 3G/1X/EVDO coverage.

I'm happy with my refurb iphone with no contract, unlocked and working fine with vodafone. I'll probably just keep using it until something happens forcing me to get something else.

I have the 1st gen iPhone and it's miles the best phone on the market. You can yell "blackberry" "blackberry" until you're blue in the face, I've been dealing with blackberries since day 1 (the pager style) and they are not even in the same ballpark.
I'll be grabbing the 3G as soon as my budget (and my fiancee) allows. 😉

nah. im on the VZW network. I like the comfort of having all those VZW workers following me around everywhere i go. Didnt Apple/AT&T lower the price of the iphone but raise the monthly charges? How much did the monthly charges go up by?

I think 10 bucks more per month

Probably going to need a new phone in September-ish, probably won't be an iPhone.
But before that I need a job.

Have to activate in store, data plan goes up an extra $10/mo for 3G, another $15/mo on top of that for "enterprise" plan.
