Well,

I dont know how many DT fans we got out there, but thier new album, Octavarium, was released on the internet yesterday... and it is AWESOME!

I still like thier older stuff better, but this one is nothing short of amazing. IMO you cant beat Scences from a Memory, that is pure perfection when it comes to music.

The 24 min epic "Octavarium" is awesome, but it falls short of "A Change of Seasons" (BEST SONG EVER MADE)

Give it a listen and see for yourselves.

All the DT fans give a shout out! 🙂

I did a quick preview, most of the songs sounded more or less the same. I'll have to listen to it in my car to get a better feel for it.

Well, if you think SFAM is their best work, and you like the new one... well then I don't think I'll bother checking it out.

Awake is excellent. I love all thier albums... But you dont like SFaM? What is wrong with you. That is pure musical perfection! BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME!

I like Awake better than Octavarium though. You gotta love 6:00, Erotomania, Voices, Lie, The Mirror, Space Dye-Vest.... All awesome songs 🙂

I just saw Velvet Revolver live, they werent that sweet, lol ... They only played 2 GnR songs 🙁 And they werent even any of the sweet ones
 
I'm a guitar player and I'm a huge follower of Satriani and Vai. Although Petrucci's solo album Suspended Animation was enjoyable, this album with the band was rather dull in my opinion.

That is because Scott can't sing more of Axl's raspy songs, thats why they only play Mr. Brownstone and Used to Love her, they could play It's So Easy but Scott wouldn't be able to sing the last part of the song.

EDIT: Just picked up the new Audioslave album, gonna give that a listen to in a sec.

Yeah, I really don't like Scenes much at all. The whole vibe of the album just doesn't jive with me. And the concept - if you're going to have a concept album, the concept itself shouldn't be lame. It should also be a bit more subtle, IMHO. The first and last tracks are immediate skip-over tracks for me.
 
released on the internet? what are you talking about? The CD is being released on June 7th, and judging from Mike Portnoy's posts on his message board, there is no way any average consumer is going to hear it before then. So what do you mean, released on the internet? If you found the songs through a file-sharing program, the band has seeded them with misnamed copies of James Labrie's solo album, Elements of Persuasion and that's what people are thinking is the new album. Since you mentioned the 24:00 long song, however, that makes it seem like you did indeed hear the new album. Bastard 😛
