I'm curious to see how the "variable-displacement" engine pans out. Seems like a good idea, but I wonder how it will work in practice.

I don't know that I trust that kinda thing honestly... too me it would put too much uneven wear across all your engine parts Injectors/pistons/rods/valves all that for... I havent read this article but all the other one's I've read say 15% increase in milage... I'll pay the 15%

now I'm gonna read the article though ;)

I don't think so.

The current Z06 is quicker than a 1st generation Viper, right? The new C6 will likely be (slightly) slower than the current Z06 (why would they outdo their top gun C5 with a base C6?), with the new Z06 likely surpassing the current Viper.

However...

The 2003 Viper will be out before the C6, let alone the Z06.

So I'd bet money that the Viper will continue it's reign of domestic sportscars, at least until Ford releases that fugly GT40.

Considering that a C6 will be about HALF the price of the fugly new Viper, I know which I would rather have in my garage :D

Can't wait to test drive one.

Although, this will drive down the prices of Z06's

And, Z06 good enough for me.

1/2 the price, but it won't outperform it.

Now if you had the choice of a C6 vs a current Viper (after the '03's are released), which would you choose?

Even if I were rich, I wouldn't buy that fugly new viper anyway. It looks like ASS. The Corvette has ALWAYS been a more civilized, practical, performance machine. You can drive a Corvette daily and use it as a commuter car. Try that in a Viper

You would not hear one complaint out of me if I had to commute in a Viper. On second thought, I might complain about traffic moving too slowly.

I want to see interior before I say anything. If it's same old GM interior, forget about it.
I think I would take an M3 over the current Vette just because of the ugly GM plastic interior.

That will be sweet, there is a bunch to do with the LS family of motors already, the aftermarket for as young as it is is starting to get real awesome.
