I noticed an improvement in speed running Chrome on my GS2 after the latest update (I think it was when JB came out and Chrome came out of beta) and decided to run Sunspider and Browsermark to see if it was just my imagination:

I don't remember my before for Sunspider but I gained about 40,000 in Browsermark. I think Opera scores about 1/3 to 1/4 what Chrome does, and Chrome is at least 50% faster than the stock browser.

Just thought I'd share.

EDIT: Added graphs comparing browsers. I'm uncertain, but I think browsers that do not support flash get penalized in BrowserMark, which makes Chrome look even better. "Browser" is the stock ICS browser.

Firefox failed to complete SunSpider. Lower is better.

Yea I have noticed the speed increase as well. That and the syncing across all my devices is fantastic, loving Chrome.

Chrome was fast but I hated that the browser bar wouldn't disappear and no easy option to enable desktop view instead of mobile by default.

Yep. Chrome seems like an awesome browser, but its complete and utter lack of any decent user options prevents me from using it.

I'm using Firefox on my PC and Dolphin HD on my phone. With Xmarks and LastPass on both :)

I'll use Chrome when it supports extension for LastPass and Xmarks.

I'm not really missing anything on Chrome so far. I used Opera over the stock browser but found I like Chrome's clean interface better.

Try Boat Browser if you haven't. It's pretty much identical to dolphin with even more options I like, but it seems extremely stable.

Added graphs to first post. Taking requests for more benchmarks.

For me Dolphin is much faster than Chrome in real day to day usage (which matters the most for me). Not sure why Chrome does so well in benchmarks, but feels so slow on my Nexus 7 or Galaxy Nexus.

For Firefox, you pretty much have to be using the beta. The regular version is too slow as you can see. It's not going to beat Chrome though.

I tried the beta first but it crashed in both benchmarks which doesn't make for good graphs.

Until they get there shit together and offer some basic options such as desktop view by default i could care less how fast it is. Loving opera.

i don't care what the benchmarks say.
chrome is choppier and less responsive than the stock ICS browser, especially when a bunch of images are on the page.

I'd say scrolling and tab performance is more important than rendering performance. Generally I browse and open tabs in the background to render. While I think Chrome is easily the fastest renderer and scroller, Opera will render the pages in the background while Chrome won't. This makes Chrome a lot more painful to use imho.

If you are just using one webpage though, Chrome is the best. Especially on tablets.

i see chrome freezing/stalling quite a bit on my phone (SGS2).

i am seeing this on my transformer infinity as well, but only when i first open it up after it had been closed. after that its smooth. kinda odd that it takes a moment for it to get happy though.

People care about browser benchmarks? Really?
The only reason I started using Chrome Mobile is the synching of tabs with the desktop version.
I refuse to use any non-Chrome browser on my desktop because...
1.) Firefox is a memory hog.
2.) I used to use Opera before, but I don't support what they made the EU do to Microsoft forcing them to do a browser lottery for their OS.
3.) I haven't looked back at IE since IE7 or so. I'm sure it has improved from a decade ago, just not sure to what extent.
4.) All other desktop browsers not mentioned are irrelevant.

not to mention that chrome and firefox dont render some pages correctly yet. the stock browser is much more reliable

yes but the stock browser is going out of fashion, so if chrome is to become the new standard i'd like to see it sped up.

Chrome Mobile is like Firefox 3.5, whereas the regular browser is Chrome Desktop. Remember when FF 3.5 felt like a slideshow compared to Chrome? Yeah.

Im digging chrome so far. I made it my default on my sgs3 and its pretty fast compared to stock, which was pretty good itself. I like that the address bar stays on top. That was my biggest peeve with the stock browser. I dont like the bookmark stuff as it took a while to get used to and the lack of deeper options but I have appreciated its use.
