The new choice? Clear Spot 4G+

Seems like every week there is a new article on a carrier adding a hard cap to data usage. I'm just wondering if Clear Internet+ (where available) would be a better choice.

Pros:
*Works with any wifi device. That means all wifi phones, laptops, printers, etc.
*Will work on 3G service if 4G is not available.

Cons:
*Clear 4G not available in all areas.
*When using 3G you are limited to 5GB.
*Two year contract.
*Modem costs $200+.

Seriously considering grabbing one of these for $60 a month. Especially since most cell data plans are $30'ish anyways with cell service or about $50'ish without. I live in an area with Clear 4G service. The high cost of the modem and the 2 year contract is making it an iffy buy though.

I know people that carry Mifi's with them everywhere cus of AT&T's crappy coverage. If you really want it then get it. The thing is that every carrier will charge you the internet on your cellphone with them if you get the phone through them and can't get rid of the internet as long as you're on contract with them. The only carrier that is really relaxed with that is T-mobile but that's if you pay full price for an unlocked phone and let them think you have a cheap phone.

This is Sprints' service for the deaf/hard of hearing. You can get an Overdrive (which is the same as the Clear modem) for $99 w/ contract. Sprint uses the same 4g as Clear, which is a part of Sprint. You can also get a phone w/ a data only plan for next to nothing and $30/month. You can even get an EVO, but you have to pay and extra $10/month. It says only the Blackberrys get PAM (phone as modem) free, but using something like pdanet or tether you should be able to turn the Evo or Hero into a mobile wifi hotspot.

You can lease the modem for $5-6 a month, too, if you don't want to buy. Clear's official blog just wrote a post comparing prices and specs of the new devices that were just announced if you want to check it out. http://theclearblog.com/
