The new Brawny.

You've probably noticed that the old Brawny paper towel guy, an American icon, has been replaced by a hip young wanker with hair gel. Read here about why that can't be good for society. Be aware that the author of that article doesn't seem to be as in touch with his feminine side as the new Brawny appears to to be.

Thoughts?

I find it kind of disturbing that our image of what a real man is supposed to be like is being reshaped into something not that manly, in most of the media. If you keep your eyes open you'll see it everywhere.

Yeah, it's terrible that our definition of masculinity is becoming more open and accepting. We should force all men to drink beer and play sports and never cry and only express anger.

What's terrible is that our definitition of masculinity now involves styling gel and shopping at the mall. If our ancenstors had been more open and accepting then your organic matter would be a pile of bear scat lying on the ground somewhere, which I might add may very well not be far from the truth now.

Men are the way they are because that's the way thousands of years of natural selection made them. You can't suppress that in a couple generations and not pay the price. These are soft and cushy times, but that has been a rarity in the world. When the world is full of men turned pansy and disaster stikes, what do you think is going to happen? Where will you find your hair gel when there are no stores? I shudder to think.

Go shop at the mall or something. Drink a double latte for me while you're out.

Hmm, I wonder sometimes,.
especially when "men" chose female looking Icons,
and feminine/or semi-feminine names.....

now brawny paper towels is looking wimpier??????
Waah wtf

Do you even know what the fvck you are talking about? Masculine stereotypes have changed throughout history. Go look at some pictures of the way men dressed back when our country was founded. Do you think a man could wear those types of clothes today and not be mocked? Do you think those men were "pansies"? Wow, look at those tights, how gay.

Once upon a time, a "man's man" worked with his hands in the field or in a factory. Is the same standard true today? If I work behind a desk, am I less of a man?

Fashion changes. The male role in society changes. Deal with it. Hair gel is not an indication of bravery or courage.

Discussions on the "pussification" of america and our changing standard of masculinity aside...I like the old brawny better. The new brawny looks like a snide douche...the old brawny is a man of experience and strength, he's weathered the storm and found his modest place in the world. He is what he is, a lumberjack who some how mastered paper towels. New brawny looks young and cocky, one of those jerks who doesn't do anything right but knows how to do everything better then you.

Maybe I'm bias because old brawny looks kind of like my dad, and new brawny looks like an asshole.

I can't make any sense out of what you said.

Yeah, f*ck all truck driving, boot wearing, hairy manly men. This is the age of us, pretty boys, with our acuras and infinities, our long soft hair full of hair gel and our pretty white shirts.

Could it be possible that this was posted with the intention of being at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek? Someone needs a sense of humor :disgust:

That said, I do agree in spirit with the article. I like the old Brawny better.

I didn't click the OP's link... but I just wanted to add my opinion that the new Brawny TV commercial is freakin' twisted. The one where it's her birthday and Mr. Brawny is making a cake for her, with the puppy? Watch it closely... it is :Q then :frown:

I just wanted to point out that you're all b*tching about a paper towel logo. Go make me a sandwich after you all straighten out your panties. :|

😛

Weaklings abound. Bah! I will hang to the old standby's.

1. Chivalry
2. Patriotism
3. The strenuous life

Also, I think the old pr0n Brawny is better.
