Haven't read much about these chips. Are they supposed to OC like the S939 Opty's?

Prices seem very good when compared to the other 1MB cache AM2 chips.

Seeing that theres almost no difference in performance vs 939, I think im quite happy with my 939 opty at 2.7.

Hmm, might consider getting an opty for my am2 rig in a few years. Wish these were out a month ago. :(

i have to say i'm not very impressed at all. performance will be exactly the same as socket 939 opterons, and they are priced the same as socket 939 optys were before core 2 came out. excuse me if i'm not jumping out of my seat for a 1.8GHz opteron for $270 when you could instead get an e6300 for almost $100 less that would spank it by over 20% at stock speeds and overclock much higher to boot. If you really feel the need to get an AM2 processor, you'll get a much better deal with an X2 right now.

All hype. :)

How is it all hype?

I was only kidding....that's what the smiley face is for... (I'm rolling my eyes at you for taking my post too seriously).

I guess I should  as well for you getting all defensive over me asking a question out of pure curiousity. Maybe if you wanted your post to come across as sarcastic or joking, you'd be using ;) or :p instead of a smiley.

As for your original question, although I've never overclocked one, I'm sure they'd do just as well as the s939 varieties. They do go through more stringent testing that regular A64 and X2 chips. I'd check XS to see if anyone has been overclocking these.

Knock it off you two!

Anyways, if anyone finds a review on those AM2 Opterons, please post!
