TigerDirect has the new Acer AL2223WD / 22" Wide / 5ms / 800:1 / WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 / Silver·Black / Widescreen LCD Monitor. Seems like the contrast ratio has been improved. LINK

Also, microcenter has it for $329.99 without rebates. It is the same price as the older model they still carry.

HDCP-capable... that's a good thing right? lol

Maybe 🙂 It's a new DRM technique. My only concern is that some day you might not be able to see HDCP-protected content unless you have an HDCP-capable monitor? I know that HD-DVD and Blu-ray players have restrictions available that will prevent discs from playing at full resolution if your monitor doesn't support HDCP.

I've never bought from TD before and heard a lot about rebates not coming back. How bad is it really? I'd pay $280 but not $330 for this monitor.

I think $330 is still nice price for 22" though.. why not?

Compare to the $200 Westinghouse BlackFriday 22" which is now all over ebay for ~$320 including shipping.

Well, I have the older version of this monitor that I got from Micro Center only a few months back. It was supposedly a steal at $300. I paid $320 for taxes, and I was still happy. The quality of the monitor is great, and you won't be disappointed. IMO, this is a great deal, especially since this is the latest generation.

Because I already have a 19" widescreen, this would be a 3" upgrade and a little jump in rez. I'm not sure it's worth $330 to me for that little change.

Hmm.. They take Paypal, so you could theoretically knock $20 off if you can figure out how in the world that Paypal $20 off $50 holiday promo works.

I bought the older 22" Acer widescreen monitor last month and absolutely LOVE IT! I switched from a Sony CDP-G500 21" CRT (2048x1536) that I paid $1100 for 7 years ago. I never, ever thought I would replace my CRT with an LCD but man, it's great.

Acer has come a long way. Their TFT's are some of the best you can buy. I have a couple of 19 inch Benq's that use the same AU-Optronics panels as the Acers. Great quality....

tempting, but i personally don't like buying lcd's online, Circuitcity has the old version of this for the same price, perhaps if i wait, the older version would hopefully be on sale at CC?? logical right?

Is it just me or is TD unusably slow this afternoon? I can't even make it to the checkout page.

I use adelphia and couldnt get a lot of pages to show up at all, newegg, tigerdirect, froogle, google vids, etc

After a couple hours I connected to my university's VPN and can now go anywhere I want. ****** service from adelphia as always.

At any rate, I'm now down $339.94.

I am looking to replace my $1500 from 10yrs ago 21" CRT with a LCD too, and judging from kill-a-watt, my current monitor uses about 120watts, and if the LCD uses 1/3 of that, I will save about $50/year (~24cents/kwh) in electricity, so this LCD will pay for itself in 6yrs or so.

Just wanted to point out if this uses the same panel as the Westinghouse 22" on best buy's black friday, i would suggest going to a store to examine it or one with the same panel in person before purchasing.

I personally could not stand the limited viewing angle of the Westinghouse 22" from BB (same size, resolution, response time, colors) coming from a Dell 2001FP and ended up giving the monitor away. The main issue was the limited viewing angle, combined w/ the fact the Westinghouse did not allow tilting downward, making it impossible to get a direct look at the monitor if your desk setup places a monitor at a raised level. If the monitor isn't in a direct line with your eye, there is color distortion at the extreme ends; for me it was the top quarter or so because i'm looking upward at the monitor. My Dell 2001FP with a wider viewing angle doesnt have this issue.

This Acer lists a Viewing Angle of 160°(H),160°(V)

The Westinghouse 22" lists a Viewing Angle of 170° Horizontal/160° Vertical

For reference, my Dell 2001FP is listed with a +/- 88 degree vertical and +/- 88 degree horizontal, (I think that translates to 176/176).

A friend of mine got two 22" westinghouse lcds and the viewing angles, and blacks are def not good. There was a fairly significant amount of light bleed on black bgs. :/
