Well, that doesn't say too much. Almost ANYTHING's more musical than tool! ;)

I think a better word to used would be melodic.

How can a band not be musical?

Notice the ;). Sarcasm.

I'm not a big fan of Tool and like bands -- too loud and incoherent for my tastes. It sounds like A Perfect Circle might be more up my alley.

I remember you saying you're not a big fan of tool. If you don't like as heavy, definitely check out 'The Thirteenth Step' first, and if you like that, try Mer de Noms.

Just got it . I like most of it, some other songs are just too... unique?

I like the one with "Lay your head down child and let the boogie man come, because your bodies are like sheep to the rhythm of the war drum"

It's actually:

Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come

Counting bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums

but close, the name of that song is "The pet" i think, great song. I really like "The Noose".

I'm going to listen to some song of this album on launch.yahoo.com or some place so I can get an idea of what kind of music it is...

Hmm. Have you ever gotten the lyrics of a tool song and sat down and listened to the song? I don't think you'd find them as incoherent as you think. Different strokes for different folks, though.

Picked it up from Target today. Wasn't aware that the lineup changed so much, but still sounds damn good. And my copy doesn't have the copy protection label on the back - ripping it right now. :D

melodic = musical in my book. if not you're stuck with braying sheep being music.

Troy Van Leeuwen and Paz Lenchantin are gone, James Iha (formerly of Smashing Pumpkins) and Jeordie White (Twiggy from Marilyn Manson) are in.

Tool, or the remnants of, are one of the very few bands that still include a damn melody or two in their songs. They actually put a lot of creativity into their songs, so they are well worth the money to put down on their new album.
