So denzel is a bad cop rite, at first its like ok, bad cop, but he gets things done....then he turns into a evil murderer, then he turns into some psyco... i kinda got lost, why was he involved with russians in the middle of LA? Was he setting up the rookie cop? (why??) And who are the people who shoot him, are they the black people from that one bad area? (kinda looks like that ending scene from that ja rule mezmerize video..lol)...???
 
the russians shot him cause he owed them 1 mill$$ for killin a dude in vegas.

and i dont beleive he was setting teh new guy up all along he just decided to off him when we wasent gonna go along with things.

he was in vegas (which isnt far from la) drinking and gambling the weekend before. he got pissed off at some russian guy and beat him to death. that russian guy was connected. there was an agreement reached that he had to pay the russian mob 1mil before midnight as a penalty. he f*cked up the deadline. the mob had a team of hitters in place. he got wacked.

anyways, the black people shot him because they didnt really like him. He was actually screwing them over by taking their money. like the search warrant part. thats what he would do to them
 
he tricked the rookie into smoking that dope so that it was in his system and he could make his word not reliable if he ratted them out
 
The movie was pretty good until the end. THe Russian mob thing is a little far fetched. Having him get killed by the Russians was a cheap out IMHO.

Who was Roger? I know he was a dealer, but how did Denzel know him? Where they former cops? How did Denzel know about the money hidden in the kitchen?

I'm pretty sure he was a former cop because he talked to Denzel about the guys coming after his pension, most likely from the force. He probably had confided where his stash was in general terms.

he said it was from his first bust. so i guess he was just a guy him and the 3 wise men used.

I think Roger was just a dealer that was paying off Denzel and became buddy-buddy with, until Denzel needed major cash to save his own a$$.
