The movie Pathfinder

I must admit I never watched the preview. It sounded like a decent concept though. I was hoping for something along the lines of the 13th Warrior, but adapted to the new story.

But the movie itself, in implementation was horrible, for far to many reasons to list.

Thoughts?

is that the one with the vikings in the Americas and they leave a viking kid behind and the Indians raise him?

it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. i think it's definitely watchable and enjoyable to watch one time through. it's definitely a "different" type of movie with the way it's filmed. and yes, the acting in it is dreadful lol.

It's got Karl Urban running around in nothing but a pair of chaps.....it can't be that bad

What was so bad about it? Give us the list.

1) non-existent score - Some movies are okay with that, but there was NOTHING in the movie.
2) terrible acting - no further explanation needed
3) weak dialogue - The lines were so cliqued that it was terrible.
4) incoherent story - The story had breaks, and just didn't flow at all.

Redeeming qualities.... scenery and cinematography; both were just wonderfully done.

It was a simple hack & slash barbarian movie. It promised nothing else. It's the "Diablo" of RPG's.

Lots of stuff dying, no real goal. Drink some beer, watch it with some friends, but don't expect anything of substance from it.

Also: I know its a Hollywood movie, but so many historical inaccuracies, that could of been overlooked if it had good acting.

No horses in America back then, though I suppose the vikings could of brought horses.
Native Americans do not go around shaking hands when they greet.

I stopped watching it like 20 minutes into it.

All I can say is thank God I rented it from one of those $1 kiosks in the grocery store rather than paying a full $4 to rent it.

Only cost me $2.30 but, I wish I could get my money back.

It is a perfect, get drunk with your buddies and laugh at how sweet the action is and how horrible the story and acting is. I mean how many times have you seen a fight where one guy is riding a shield like a sled being chased by a bunch of guys wearing buffalo heads riding in a dogsled!

If you got hung up on a historical inaccuracy as benign as "no horses back then" then I truely don't know how you could ever enjoy 97% of movies that are produced.

I guess I'm happy being ignorant. It allows me to enjoy things a lot more.

Historical inaccuracy has never been my criteria when watching a Hollywood movie. Aside from that the movie offers nothing to recommend. Poor script, poor acting, and poor directions.

Well, that was the straw that broke the movies back. If it had other good things, I wouldn't of cared about historical accuracy.

The historical inaccuracies usually don't bother me but I'm a Viking buff. And the fact of the matter that the Norse came to America after the viking era. Also, the reason the Norse were driven off was because of milk. They gave the Native Americans (Skrælings) milk but they were lactose intolerant so they thought they were being poisoned and drove of the Norse.
