sorry, anyone who liked TRL and Unbreakable just has no taste in movies.

Oh, okay. I'll be sure to have you approve what I watch next time just so I know that I have a taste in movies. Get real, man. Taste IS a matter of opinion. And remember, "opinions are like a$$holes..."

<< There are a few reasons i didnt like the movie. Yes, opinions, everyone has one. Just like a bellybutton. and you are correct, they cant be 'wrong'. please, explain to me why you enjoyed the movie. >>

I liked both TRL and Unbreakable because I saw both stories as being very character driven. Maybe most people have overlooked certain subtleties in the characters that makes a big impression on their personalities and/or their actions.

Most people wanted SPR from TRL. They wanted characters with limited personalities to be placed in a situation where it SEEMS the event was more important than the characters. TRL was all about character interpretation of the setting (war). That's what I liked about it, and i'm sure no one would agree with me. I also fancy the thought that the plot of TRL can be put in almost any war. Unlike SPR where the characters go on the mission because it's their orders from a law passed specifically in WW2. TRL seemed to me more transcendent.

I also liked Unbreakable. I can see how a lot of people would not like it, it wasn't the movie the masses expected (like it or not we're all sheep). I did respect the elements it did have to make it a good story. Again, David Dunn has noticible characteristics in the beginning of the movie that change as he realizes certain things. And the strongest aspect I took from it was not David Dunn USING his power, but more REACTING to his power in a very realistic way.

Well, that's what I got from those movies. I don't expect much understanding from you people, but all you haters out there sound like this to me: "I didn't like the Mummy 2, I was expecting Egyptology, but all I got was violence."

Yes, AI is a big crap of a movie. The Kubrick part's bad, the Spielberg part's bad, the story sucks and drags on... You just want something to hurry up and happen, and it never does. I wanted to leave half way through. Shallow and boring.

SPOILER ANSWER (Or Opinion) :)

I think they were Aliens.
They had the same shape as the ones from Close Encounters.
The shot with their sillhouettes might as well have been spliced in.
Cheesey.

<< Yeah, I hate that kid. His acting sucks IMO. >>

Um, you are kidding right? Since when are you the judge of good acting. That kid is an excellent actor.

I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to mostly because Kubrick was involved. I'm not surprised by the opinions here, because the masses never understood Stanley Kubrick movies (over their head? :p). On a movie forum, with educated and intelligent movie-goers, I heard that there is more Kubrick than Spielberg in here, and for this reason I am going to see it. I also heard there is no Spielberg happy ending.

<< sorry, anyone who liked TRL and Unbreakable just has no taste in movies.
two of the worst movies in the past ten years. anyone who says otherwise is trying to fool themselves or trying to be "different".
>>

The amount of ignorance here disgusts me. "I don't understand it, so it sucks...and anyone who does like it is trying to be different!"
and saying those are two of the worst movies IN THE PAST TEN YEARS is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever read :p

Very few movies I have ever hated so much that it made me angry. Angry that I wasted the 8 bucks to see it, angry that i didnt have those 2 or 3 hours back. Unbreakable and TRL both did that to me. Kubrick movies on a whole are very different types of films. I still maintain the fact that Eyes Wide Shut was cut more than just blurring out/covering up anatomy, but on a whole, it was a fine movie. Clockwork Orange was and is certainly a wonderful movie. Kami, I enjoy how you retort my post with an equally brainless answer. Also, you incorrectly quoted me. I never said 'i dont understand it' I understood it just fine, if you read down a bit in the posts.

To show my taste in movies, here are a couple of movies that I found particularly excellent:
Battlefield Earth ... (hahaha just kidding, i havnt even seen it)

seriously:
Shawshank Redemption (arguably the best movie i have ever seen), Rear Window, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Ben Hur, and Lawerence of Arabia.

There are tons more, but these are the ones that I can think of right now... I worked in a video store for 4 years in my younger life which allowed me to see all sorts of movies and helped develop my love of them.

You're kidding, right?

If you're not I suggest you watch:

1. Pinocchio (Which was blatantly ripped-off by this movie.)
2. D.A.R.Y.L. (Another Rip)
3. Bicentenial Man (Pattern seems to be emerging here)
4. E.T. (At least this one is his. I guess rehashing old plots is better that stealing)

I could go on but why?
If you consider yourself a movie buff then you have seen this story over and over and over.
Had the movie or script been done well it would be just another film.
The fact that Spielberg did it and it was so bad just baffles me.

The only cool part about the movie was Gigolo Joe. :)

I guess 5 minutes of enjoyment out of 2 hours and 35 minutes is better than nothing, right?

On second thought that ending added 15 hours of stupid to the movie so the 5 good minutes is all but forgotten about.

I liked Kubrics strange movies and was interested in seeing AI until I found out Spielburg was involved.

His sentimentally sweet, PC, child/animal cuteness exploiting hollywoodness leaves me cold. Perhaps he should make a movie with Barbra Streisand.

Seems to me only Democrats could enjoy his tripe.

A random 5 and in no particular order:

1. Army of Darkness
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. Dumb and Dumber
4. Indiana Jones movies
5. Terminator, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, ETC.

I like just about anything as long as it's entertaining and tells a good story.

The 'beings' in the end of the movie were highly advanced robots. If you listen to the dialogue it's quite clear.

the sold out theater i was in wasn't too crazy about it either, you can hear the snickering and/or the criticisms afterwards...usually really good movies have audiences that clap in the end, in this one the ppl just got up and left, the only reactions heard were criticisms...
the movie was ok up to a certain point...i think they should of ended it when (spoiler warning):

he found the blue fairy and got stuck underwater, they should of left him there instead of dragging it on and making a happy go lucky cheery ending...

edit: spelling
