the mouthguard on water fountains

I have never turned down a clean looking water fountain, dirt and spit in the drain tray is a problem.

Yet i have never ever gotten my mouth close enough to suck water by encasing my mouth around the guard.

#1 has anyone used one
#2 if rarely used, why do they exist?
#3 is it really a mouthguard?

you're supposed to use the one on the bottom, dumbass

i was at a local park the other day and they had these funky drinking fountains where the nozzle would rise up from the water pressure and sink back down when you were done

The mouth guard is to keep morons from actually touching the nozzle with their mouths or their teeth...

I like the ones with two holes. Roll up some paper and stuff it in the big hole and the next person that uses the fountain gets a thin stream of water shooting in their face at great pressure! 😀

Why does OP think you're expected to touch your mouth to anything? That's insane! It's there to PREVENT idiots from touching the mouths to the spout.

Just wanted to share your love of getting streams of liquid shot onto your face, huh?
