The Motorola Razr Maxx

I've had this phone a week and it is so liberating to be able to use my phone all day without having to connect a charger to it. No more carrying a wall charger with me if I will be making extended visits with parents and friends.

I find it to be super smooth in operation and it's a 4G phone used in an area with only 3G. The 3G seems faster than on my Droid X, I guess the additional processing power makes the difference.

Motorola hit it out the park with this phone. To me battery life has never been a big part of the whole performance scale, but being able to remain untethered for 18 hours and still have 30% charge is really just that liberating. Not having to"Not use my phone" to conserve battery power can really increase your satisfaction with a phone.

I have the regular droid razr and find the battery to be 20% better than mh sgs2. But i live in nyc and 4glte is horrid.almost to the point of being useless. But the screen is sharp and netflix is in HD.

As much as I love the removeable batteries, I think moving to this type of large NON-removeable battery is a good step that Android needs. It keeps the phone fairly small still while having good enough battery life for any user. I agree that Motorolla did a good job with this phone from what little I've used it. It seems a bit slow with the stock launcher, but that's easy to change.

It's an awesome phone for sure. If Moto's next big phone uses a next gen system on a chip, a 720p screen, and that battery, it will blow the One X and SGS3 away no contest.

Thinking about picking up one of these. Been waiting for 5 months for something better to come out on Verizon and nothing in sight. Down to $149 through business account. Just know that a better phone will come out within weeks though :/

To me the biggest gripe about Android phones was the battery life. I rarely get under 50% with my iPhone. With using it as much as I do, I would be down to 20% in a half day on Android. I do have a Razr (non Maxx) with work but it sits in my drawer for now. I am awaiting ICS to see if maybe ill think about switching.

Hmmm interesting, though I'm not a fan of the huge screen to be honest. I think the 4.3" on the Maxx is big enough already coming from my 3.7" Incredible 1. I can always return it within a month if something else comes out as well.

The problem with the Maxx phone is that it has a really big footprint for a 4.3" phone.
You comapare the Maxx and the One X(4.6") side and side and they are the One X is barely bigger.
If you look at the pic of the Droid Fighter vs the Maxx, the Fighter is just slightly taller.
Its the angle of the pic that made the Fighter bigger than it really is.

Yeah I see what you mean. I got the phone today. Bezel is definitely thick. But happy with the phone so far.

i had an iphone since the 3gs...now i can never go back even with their 4" screen coming. This has tons more battery life than the 4S too. I took the Fan Boy Blinders off and i can see clearly now!! 🙂
This is much more productive (read=useful) phone, period.
[glad to find this site too.]

WELCOME NEWB!
Do you like gladiator movies?

The battery life is certainly appealing. If the Razr HD has the Maxx battery, I may sell my Galaxy Nexus and get it.

btw, blowabs, ever been to a Turkish prison?

Apart from the battery life I cant think of anything thats particularly outstanding about the phone.

Solid build. Not too bad of a screen. The smallest moto footprint in a moto phone. Moto add-ons arent half bad. It is a world phone and takes world sims.

Cons? locked bootloader, huge bezel.

I used a Razr for about 2-3 weeks as a temp when I was waiting for the GN.

I'm liking that all your positives come with qualifiers. 😀

My GF has this phone and the battery life is really good but has anyone with this phone encountered an issue with the phone where the bottom half of the screen flickers (pretty much around the area where the keyboard would be?)? It usually happens at night time and can be intermittent or sometimes go on for minutes on end. Thanks!

droid razr maxx screen flickering is a short clip of the issue.
