These are the clearest shots yet attributed to the X+1. Must admit, the white lines and wood furnish don't appear to be flattering. Black lines with a walnut or cherry wood finish would look pretty stylish though.

Here are the last specs seen through a Brazilian retailer:

Display: 5.2″ Full HD (1920×1080)
Operating System: Android 4.4.4 “KitKat”
Processor: 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
Cameras: 12MP rear, 5MP front
RAM: 2GB
Connectivity: WiFi, 4G/3G/2G, Bluetooth, NFC
Storage: 32GB, micro SD support up to 128GB
Battery: 2,900mAh

Not exactly stellar specs, but a far cry from low end junk either. Decently sized battery though.

and a microSD slot. i wonder if the display is going to be AMOLED or not. i got the N5 over the first MotoX because i didn't want AMOLED that you can't see in the sun.

This is going to be my next phone! Just need to wait for it to come out. Upgrading from a note 2 as it should offer fast android updates and be very optimized. That rumored battery size should give me plenty of battery life and I really hope wooden options are available at launch. Any word on release date? I'm guessing August.

As an X user I'm not really liking what I see. Side bezels look too big and I have never been a fan of the metal, seems like introducing unnecessary problems with internal antenna design and it doesn't look consistent. Might just pass this year for phones all around.

Do remember this is a prototype. The final model may look different.

Hopefully there will be a smaller version as well with similar specs but with something like a 4.7" screen.

Did the bezels grow? Overall pretty solid. Wireless charging?

I think if the camera is good, then its a pretty solid phone. Given how important the stock Android experience is to me, if I were bound from rooting (i.e. I'm the average user), then perhaps this might be the phone to choose.

My next phone will be either the Moto X+1 or Nexus 6, probably around Cyber Monday.

It's going to be a long 4 months.

I hope it still has active display and moto assist. Hopefully the speakers are decent.

This, though I'd be fine with the loss of the micro SD slot. I find the current X is almost ideally sized for one-handed use, so the larger form factor isn't of interest.

Seems more vanilla than the original Moto X - sounds pretty much like a Nexus 5 or LG G2 to me, only 2/3 of a year later. At least the Moto X filled a unique niche that other phones didn't.

I know they'll be very competitive on price but doesn't seem much to get that excited about unless there's something more.

Too busy. Wood back to silver metal trim to white to a black face. Too many transitions. My interest in this is waning as I get more used to my 1st gen "X". I love it's size. It's just a very well thought out device.

I think Moto is trying too hard to respond to criticism of the original by inflating it's size up and just throwing more power at it to look good on paper.

Honestly that looks like either a fake or a mockup to me.

First there's the poorly made logo on the back, which is now just a drilled out hole with a plastic cap thrown in, compared to moto X which had a carved out circle with the logo.

Then there's the sides which are supposedly aluminium, but look very much like plastic with a metallic paint to me.

And lastly there's the poor build quality, mainly obvious on the lower right corner of the back, where the wooden back is coming loose, but also at the top where the plastic/aluminium rim has a small hole on the edge for no apparent reason.

If it's not a fake and actually an actual mockup, then I must say I'm pretty dissapointed. The nice thing about the original moto X was that it actually got the form factor right, and was pretty much perfect in this regard. Now they've taken the best thing about the moto x and thrown it out the window (and also increased the size of the side bezels for good measure), making the phone just another me too in a sea of me too's.

According to Anands (and other) tests, the latest AMOLED devices have been bright enough to be usable in the sun. Picking lcd over AMOLED at this point is usually based on outdated data. This is what was said in the Galaxy s5 review:

"Overall, I’m quite pleased with the display. The AMOLED display in the Galaxy S5 is finally equivalent to LCD displays in color accuracy and peak luminance, areas that LCD used to be the best in. Throw in the incredible contrast that AMOLED has always had and the ability to toggle between wide color gamut and accurate color, and I would say that AMOLED is finally equal, if not slightly better than LCD. With a few more iterations, I wouldn’t be surprised if I were to write that AMOLED is clearly superior to LCD. Of course, there are some issues such as a noticeable green tint to the display in grayscale and Samsung still needs to improve their clamping of gamut to sRGB for Cinema/Movie mode, but none of these issues seriously detract from the viewing experience."

People are still sensitive to the green hue of the grayscale which is understandable. Saying that AMOLED is worse in the sun is simply not true anymore (thankfully). You probably made the right choice with the Moto X, but if you use the same outdated mindset to judge the current crop of AMOLED screens you're making a foolish mistake based on misinformation.

I'll ignore the pictures and assume the finished product won't look this terrible.

Hopefully they get the price right out of the gate this time. The Moto X was priced too high for it's specs last year, eventually the price started to trickle down, but I think the damage was done.

I read that S5 review but preferred the HTC one regardless for other reasons as well. My gs4 was useless in the sun. The Moto x I'm willing to wager would have sucked in the sun. I don't want 'usable' in the sun, I want good to great in sun. Waiting on the reviews for this one.

I suspect in another generation we will be there and I'll be glad to use an amoled screen, I miss it for watching video content.

For those attacking the larger bezels, remember that this allegedly has front facing speakers. Those require larger bezels simply because the speakers require space. Its a trade off that I'm more than willing to make. Front facing speakers are awesome.

i think it's more the side bezels. a lot of the newer phones have such small side bezels it's almost just screen there.

It could well be that the antenna are in that aluminium and that the gaps in it are to isolate the different antenna.

It looks a bit like my S3 with an extended battery from the side. :)
