The Mothership has arived

First thing I thought of when seeing some of those pics was "tornado" or "funnel cloud". Probably wouldn't have thought "mothership".

That's pretty sweet!

I assume the "layers" you can see in the clouds are actually temperature differences of the flow going over the mountain?
 
Lenticular clouds, nice ones at that. Air currents flowing over mountain chill, clouds form, currents down other side warm up, clouds evaporate resulting in lenticular clouds above mountains.
