The mother of all door dings...,

No paint damage though. I'm meeting the paintless dent repair guy tomorrow. I can't believe someone can pop a car like this and just leave.

Update: I met with the dent dude and he says that it's in a tough location and would take him a long time. It's close to structural reinforcement. He could take a stab at it, but it wouldn't be 100%. So, he suggested I take it to a body shop through insurance. I called AAA... turns out it counts as collision and my deductible is $500. EEK! Plus the body shop would have to drill, repair and repaint. Not cool.

I ended up calling the dent dude again and he's going to roll his sleeves up and try next Wednesday for about $150. I'll update again then.

I hope karma gets the guy who's given me this headache, and he remembers why he's getting payback! :| :|

I'm not sure the paintless guy will be able to help you much. It looks like the metal has some creasing, plus to compound that its right on that styleline.

I wish you luck, but dont hope for too much from paintless on that one.

Yup, it's right on the body line which sucks. We'll see what he has to say tomorrow, but in person there is not much creasing and it is like 2 individual baseball sized and smooth depressions. The guy who hit me left some paint but I was able to buff it all out and there are no scratches, just the deformation. I think the picture looks worse than in person since the car is shiny. I'm confident it can be popped... but I'm not looking forward to having to go to a body shop if it can't.

Another angle

Please update the thread if/when you get the paintless guy to do it, and tell us how it worked out. I know its better than it was a few years back, and I wonder how good they are getting at it.

We had a hail storm here last spring, those guys popped up in every damn parking lot in town. I heard some of them were really butchering cars. A few bad apples as always.

That's one reason I am affraid to buy a new car 🙁
We only have "compact" spaces at work, which means that happens quite a lot, though usually not as severe. Don't really care with my 96 Maxima, but new car it would piss me off big time.

I'm meeting him tomorrow at lunch. I've had this guy pop minor dents a year back. I found him by calling the local Honda dealership and asking who they use. He operates under Dent Wizard and makes his rounds at the local dealerships, working on their unsold cars. I just meet him after he's done with the dealer's cars and give him cash... he helped me out for $40 last time and I think this is in an easier location so we'll see. I'll be sure to update this with pics tomorrow.

Get some of those inflateable cushions that people sometimes hang between their cars in garages. Duct tape em to your car!

Profit?

..same thing happened to my truck..two verticle inch sized dings from a runaway shoping kart. Doesn't pay to have a nice vehicle anymore. People are jealous and spitefull. I wana nurf truck.:|

this is the reason why I park my car as far away from
-other cars
-minivans
-shopping carts
-coupes
-heavily ped. traffic areas.

In fact, I park 2 1/2 blocks away from work just to avoid dings like this.
