The Most Unhealthy Drink in America

Spotted in the paper yesterday. Cold Stone Creamery's 24 fl oz Peanut Butter and Chocolate milk shake has been named by Men's Health magazine as the most unhealthy drink in America.

Here are the statistics:
-2010 calories
-131g of fat (68g saturated)
-153g of sugar

To put this into perspective, the unhealthy ice cream treat is equivalent to...
-68 strips of bacon worth of saturated fat, 3.5x the recommended daily intake. Bacon lovers rejoice. 😱
-30 Chewy Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies worth of sugar
-Over a day's worth of food for an average woman in calories (2000 recommended)

Cold Stone sells it at its own stores in the US and some Tim Hortons outlets in Canada.

Other bad drinks to make the list include...
-Smoothie King's 40oz peanut power plus grape: 1498 calories, sugar equal to 20 Reeses Peanut butter cups.
-McDonald's 32oz Triple Thick Chocolate Shake: 1160 calories, sugar equivalent of 13 of their apple pies.
-Cosi Double Oh! Arctic Mocha: 1210 calories, sugar equivalent of 41 Oreos.
-Krispy Kream's 20oz Lemon Sherbet Chiller: 980 calories, sugar equal to 16 medium chocolate eclairs.

I can't believe this beat out my latest concoction: The DranoClear Mixer: Equal parts Drano, Everclear and Pineapple Juice.

From the linked article:
Health experts recommend capping your saturated fat intake at about 20 grams per day, yet this beverage packs more than three times that into a cup the size of a Chipotle burrito.

So what they're saying is that I should have three Chipotle burritos?

Baskin Robbins used to have a shake that had 2600 calories, but they seem to have gotten rid of it. It was discussed a few years ago in this thread.

Whoa. That's a lot of calories. It doesn't even sound good to me. Chocolate and PB are good in candy, but I don't think I'd like it as a milk shake.

how is it that horrible? I never understood how they fit so much sugar into certain things and not have them insanely sweet. where do all the calories and fat and sugar come from. how do they manage to fit any flavors lol

PB is good in milk shakes. I routinely make protein shakes with peanut butter, milk, bananas, some ice and two scoops of whey protein. Very tasty, especially after a hard workout

It's really a modern culinary feat!

Because high caloric intake is a bad thing now? Yeah, I want to pay for something that has no nutritional value. Gimme some rice cakes, baby! Wooooooo!

But yeah, empty calories are bad. So every sugary snack is less healthy than this. Soda beats it a thousand times over. So does sunnyD, hawaiian punch, koolaid, etc. At least this has dairy and nuts in it. Pretty much everything Americans drink right now is less healthy than this thing. Milkshake > soda.

Yeah I know it seems like a lot of calories at once but I doubt most people could even finish it. That thing is like a large, sticky meal.
But I have no doubt in my mind any nerd here could suck down a twelve pack of coke in one day with no challenge, and do more harm to themselves than the shake could ever hope for.

I was just making the point that we suck down stuff every single day that is more unhealthy. But yeah, 2000 calories is crazy.
