You've got to be kidding. I can see the ambiguity in pwn, but teh and ect are just stupid typos (which I'm sure is where pwn got its start).

...and yes, n00b/noob is "short" for newbie, which isn't even a real word, technically.

edit: I can understand that some people are just borderline illiterate and use shortened words, but when people can't tell the difference between to vs. two vs. too, it's annoying as hell. I think that bothers me more than "1337-speak."
