So whats the most painful looking thing you have ever seen?

For me it was yesterday on a trip to The Badlands offroad park for some jeeping. I watched a guy feeding the last foot of his winch cable in and about to hook the hook onto the rollers and saw him get the hook on, and then tug a couple times, back the winch up and pull out his gloved hand. He proceeded to remove his glove, shake his hand, and have his friends drive him to the hospital. The tip of his finger was still in the glove. That just had to hurt soooooooo bad

I used to race bikes. During one event, the asphalt decided to take a core sample of my flesh giving me the opportunity to view my elbow from the inside. ICK!

On TV...I remember a Monday night game a few years back that still gives me shivers. The running back for the Raiders (?) was tackled, and had his lower leg forced the wrong way at the knee...OUCH!!!

Does anyone else remember this? Or who it was?

When I was little, my sister and I were riding bareback on her horse. The horse got scared and I started to fall off so I grabbed on to her. Well, I ended pulling both of us off. She landed on her elbow and broke it. The worst part was that the bone was poking out of her skin! Really, really sick!

On RealTV, they showed a skater trying to jump a curb and he went out of control. He stuck his hand out to pad the fall and it broke in two or three places. His arm looked like a W

Basically ANY videos on body modifications.

I've seen some NASTY pictures and video files, but this one I saw the other day made me almost FAINT! Literally...

First off, you see a hand on a table with fingers spread out. Then the camera zooms in on the middle finger and you notice that there's a rubber band rapped tightly around the finger just below the 1st knuckle. Then comes the chissel...

I ain't saying anymore.

The movie Mustang was talking about is available here. Just scroll on down, it's the 3rd movie listed. You should check out all the others and all of the HardcoreTV archives as well, as most of them are hilariously funny.

Cheers!

Actually, it happened to me.

We were poor college students when I had my middle child, and even though there were other options, I ended up having her while on medicaid. I am still pissed at the people I consider responsible for our having to use public assistance, but I won't name names.

When you are on Medicaid, the hospitals do not want to spend much time or money on you. I was leaking fluid and 2 weeks overdue to have the baby, so they sent me to the hospital to be induced. Inducing labor makes it more intense, rapid, and painful.

Normally, when you are induced, they hook you up to an epidural, because the pain is far more excruciating. However, they skipped that with me because Medicaid does not reimburse enough to make them happy.

The only way to describe that birth was that it was like a train crashing through a station.... I had my first without pain medication, and I survived it. However, being INDUCED without pain medication was the most inhumane and barbaric thing they could have done to me. I have Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from the whole sorry business.

I understand someone in California successfully sued for the same thing. It was unreal to say the least.

If I survived that, I can survive ANYTHING.

Isla,

Have you seeked counsel on that? Induced labor WITHOUT medication!!?? That's a dictionary description of medical malpractice!

The ONLY thing worse than hearing about your anguish is hearing you're not DOING something about it!

Namuna,

No, I haven't sought counsel about it. It was so traumatic I couldn't really even talk about it until I got pregnant with my last kid, and I told my very wonderful OB about it. I cried during our consultation... I told her I just couldn't handle the thought of giving birth again. God, she was great! That woman is one of the best doctors I have ever had the honor of knowing. I didn't feel the first twinge of pain with that baby. :)

I think it may be too late to do anything about it... it has been over 7 years now. At the very least, I would like to write an article about it. I think people should be aware of the abuses that go on in the name of saving money. I do believe that someone in CA won a similar case, though. The bottom line is the bottom line with some hospitals, and I know that is why they denied me while I was begging for an epidural.

I'm still a little freaked out about it and probably always will be.

Anyone ever see the clip of Lawrence Taylor sacking Joe Theisman and breaking his leg in the process? Now that looked painful.
