ingle play, the last 25 minutes (real time) of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma St. are perhaps the most exhilarating stretch of college football I've ever watched.

I have that in HD, someone here posted the torrent after the game. I watch a couple times a year probably. Just a complete classic, with bonus proposal at the end.

Otherwise:

Laettner shot (and I hate Duke and was rooting for Kentucky)
The Red Wings vs Avs goalie brawl games. And watching Claude Lemieux get pummeled.
Magglio going deep for the second time in the game to end the 2006 ALCS
Game 7 Twins vs Braves and Jack Morris going 10 shutout innings

As a fan of Buffalo and, to a lesser extent, Cleveland sports teams, I'd rather not answer.

Michael Jordan's game winner in the 1998 NBA finals.

That one for sure!

Also The Fridge's touchdown run in the Super Bowl:

Just because it was my alma mater, Illinois coming back to win from 15 down with 4 minutes to play in their March Madness run in '05:

Most memorable was the whole '98 Cubs season, that was the Sosa vs. McGwire year, though now we know it was all 'roided up monsters swinging those bats. McGwire hitting #62 against the Cubs. Even Kerry Wood's MLB debut. When Wood pitched his 20 strikeout game, had the nastiest breaking pitch I've ever seen thrown. There also was the big anticipation for the Kerry Wood vs. Mark McGwire match-up, the first time not only does Wood strike out McGwire, not only does he do it on just 3 pitches, McWire's bat never left his shoulders! McGwire was so confused by the pitches he couldn't pull the trigger on 3 called strikes!

Outside of Chicago sports, I don't know, most of the major national attention-grabbing plays have been mentioned. One I wish I could unsee was I think late 80's, early 90's a MNF game, I think it was a Raiders player, anyways another player rolled into his knee and bent it inwards, and the bottom half of his leg was bending forward from the knee joint...

Bah, big deal, a 380lb guy can plow through people to gain 1.5yds, check out my link above where a 350lb guy runs a kickback 71 yards, it's quite a feat..

This was the most memorable for me, probably because it was one of the most bizzare catches I've ever seen in football. Favre to Antonio Freeman in overtime against Minnesota. I remember watching this live, the camera was fooled for a second and everyone assumed it was a dead play but then, touchdown.

I was at this game...in that end zone...it was raining and shitty...amazing!

It's also the story that goes along with the Fridge touchdown, it was basically saying "We're dominating this Super Bowl so much we can insert our defensive lineman in as a running back and still kick your ass!" It was the essence of the attitude of that team, they knew they were the best and they weren't afraid to say it.

The year prior the 49ers did that to the Bears in the playoffs, they had the victory rapped up and late in the game coach Bill Walsh put a lineman in as a running back and that pissed off Ditka so much. Then in the '85 season when they faced off in the regular season and the Bears racked up a large lead, he began using the Fridge as a running back to get back at Walsh.

Though Ditka afterwards regretted that play in the Super Bowl, not giving Walter Payton a Super Bowl touchdown.

But I mean, name me any other Super Bowl where a team has inserted a lineman in as running back. To anyone with a pulse in Chicago, they remember this play.

Growing up in Cleveland, I remember the fumble, the drive, Indians blowing game 7 and Jordan's buzzer beater against the Cavs.

I guess being a Cleveland fan is a good way to be part of all sorts of historic sports miracles.

I guess it's memorable, just not very much of an athletic "feat" if you know what I mean.

The first response in this thread declared The Catch to be the one and only answer to this thread.

Alshon Jeffery on the Bears made a far more impressive catch for a touchdown this past Sunday than "The Catch", not to mention that "Catch" was only possible because Montana blew a much easier pass to the endzone a few plays earlier overthrowing the receiver.

The moment and the story behind it are far more memorable than the "feat", and yes, they're only memorable to those who followed the story as it was unfolding.

As Gawd is my witness, he is broken in half !!! :awe:

And to think that the pain and suffering wasn't even over for Mick in that match yet either ... *shakes head*

When you pass a tooth through your nasal cavity, you have gone too far, IMO.

All of mine are losing side since I root for terrible teams.

1. Game 7 of the Canucks Stanley Cup finals in 1994 and 2011. The '94 was far worse though with stupid Messier and his fat head beating us.

2. Teemu Selänne's entire rookie season on the Jets. Amazing.

3.Vikes losing to the dirty Saints in 2009. Specifically of course I remember the final interception, but the entire game stick on my head.

So now this is what I cheer for ever single week of every NFL season:

My Vikes to win
My fantasy team/wagers to win
For the Saints to lose
