Best: OG NES. It basically sparked a lifelong love of videogames that has not abated yet.

Worst: Half complete Erector kit. Dad had gotten laid off right before Christmas so everyone got Goodwill stuff for Christmas. I got one present and it was an Erector crane kit and I quickly discovered a large number of parts were missing. Made do with what I had and ransacked the old man's random nuts and bolts box to scrape something together.

I had a Beast King GoLion that actually transform into five lions.

<----- spoilt brat.
I had this as a kid too. The thing of it is, I have no idea why? I mean in the sense that I don't recall asking for it nor do I recall ever watching the anime or reading the manga (both of which were just before my time)...and I wasn't interested in either of those growing up. I also remember that toy had a lot of heft to it (lots of metal I guess).

EDIT: You've jogged my memory. I also had this one. The big version that broke down into a dozen (maybe more?) pieces. I can only assume a relative thought it was the killer toy to have.

Mine came from Japan, as in my dad picked it up in Japan. It had lots of metal, I am guessing pewter.

Train sets and slot cars were definitely near the top of the list for me as well.

Probably a Schwinn Scrambler bike, but I got something cool pretty much every christmas.

For memorable events...

One year my mother got a snow machine for the tree. The store display looked pretty cool. It had styrofoam beads like are in a beanbag chair, and a pumped tube blew them up the tree, it was captured under an angel, and it snowed down the tree. It had a cardboard base that caught the beads and funneled them to the pump; rinse, repeat...

The dog knocked the tree over, the angel came off, and the pump blew styrofoam beads across the room. Holy shit was that a mess. Never did really see it work much. Operating time was <0.5hr, and it was never hooked up again :^D
