i admit it, i love the song...
*hands in man card*

The UB40 version is better IMHO. I prefer it to the Elvis version, but that's just because I heard that version first.

...except most of us are admitting that we listen to at least a few of these songs. Really, this thread is about the dichotomy that men tend to hold up a number of preferences and activities as "manly", and ridicule people who don't measure up, yet at the same time almost all guys indulge in "unmanly" things.

two songs with the words "you're beautiful" in it:

Christina aguilera - "you're so beautifullllll...something something"
James Blunt - "you're [high pitch] beautifullllll"

ugh..
"You are beautiful, no matter what they say"?

I think I may have found the granddaddy of them all.

The one, the only, YATTA!

And although I still think the Barbie is gayer than the Pizzaz, I'm going to have the Pizzaz song stuck in my head all day tomorrow. 😛

I got to thinking about this. You're right. If you like a song but don't listen to it because you're afraid of what others might think of you, then you're doing yourself an injustice. You're making yourself into a fake person who isn't secure in themselves.

TheoPetro - Why don't you tell us everything that you like to listen to? Seriously considering that your friend is gay because of his music choice makes me want to punch you in the face. Moron. I happen to like "It's Raining Men" and proudly admit to listening without feeling a slight drop in manliness.

Ooh heaven is a place on earth:music:

*Turns in man card* 🙁

Growing up I had saw Belinda Carlisle but just listeing to her sing that song I knew she was hot. 😱 Had the biggest crush on her till like 8th grade.

ANYTHING by Ricky Martin...

For those in the SF area...Lamonte and Tinelli used to play a parody of his "Livin the Vida Loca", called "I don't like pan0cha". Anyone have a link to that? it would be VERY appropriate for this thread...

It's raining men probably has to be the number one song.

But anything by The Culture Club has to come in a close second.

Here's My List:

1) It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls/Geri Halliwell/40,000 Vegas Drag-Queens
2) Barbie Girl - Aqua
3) Mysterious Girl - Peter Andre
4) Man! I Feel Like a Woman - Shania Twain
5) The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss) by Cher

And yeah, here's my man card. (I like some of Dion's songs!)

Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive"

For God's sake, don't shake that booty!
Think of John Wayne, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold doesn't dance, he can hardly walk.
Truly manly men do NOT dance.

Memorable Quotes from In & Out (1997)

I can think of a whole slew of them.

But I'll pick an obscure song that most anybody outside of the UK will be completely unaware of:

Annie - 'Chewing Gum'

EDIT: Video now included for confirmation

It's a tie between Celine Dion's "I Will Go On" (from Titanic) and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" (from the Bodyguard).

It's "My Heart Will Go On".

Wow, assuming you're right and he was wrong, turn in your man card, right now. Real men wouldn't have known he was wrong. 😛 🙂
