PCI Latency Timer - you can leave that alone
PCI IDE Busmaster - enable
HT Width - 16 bit
HT Tristate - leave alone
CRC Flood - leave alone

That's strange, for me at 600 Hypertransport I could go into the high 230s and at 400 into the low 260s and I'm using a Raptor so SATA should have nothing to do with it.

!!Important!! The BIOS has problems with the mobiles!!

For those who are using 1.1 and flash to 1.42, when you clear the CMOS, it will no longer POST. You have to install a desktop CPU and manually change the multiplier to a number to get it to work.

If you have used this BIOS and don't have a desktop CPU on hand,

!!DO NOT CLEAR CMOS!!

Well, its just that screwed up.

Btw, I couldn't get the leatest 1.47 to work with the mobile no matter what I do. Changing multiplier won't help either. It just won't POST at all.

Those using the MSI K8N Neo with mobiles, pls take note.

Thanks for both of the updates. I am making the changes now.

Damn that's bright, but I kinda like the black on yellow scheme. Couple that with black sleeved PSU cables with yellow molexes and you'd have quite the looker. Back on topic, who's gonna do it???

How is the Asus with the new Bios' and overclocking?

What board can you use a good hsf that screws down with the 754pin socket?
I would like to be able to get a decent overclock with lots of good voltage adjustments.
I was thinking of the 3200+ newcastle since the DTR is a bit iffy unless you can get a bios to support it(and I don't know anyone here with a desktop that I could flash with).

Also, is it ok to use the slk-900U on the 754pin socket? I think it wouldn't be too bad with the DTR since the chip is exposed, but it depends on the orientation of the core.

For another MSI datapoint:

I ordered a 3200 DTR, MSI Neo Platinum, and 1 gig of CORSAIR value 3200 DDR ram, along with a Thermaltake Venus 12 heat sink.

First problem is that the heat sink wouldn't contact the top of the processor. As noted, the MSI Neo comes with a heat sink bracket already glued onto the back and screwed together. The bracket I got has 4 little stubs at each corner that are about 1.5 mm high; took a razor blade to them and the heat sink then sat on top of the processor with the stubs out of the way - was really pretty easy. (I set a piece of paper on the "ledge" that holds up the heat sink, curved around the CPU, and then made sure that the paper edge caught on the CPU corner when I straightened it to make sure the heat sink would be making contact.)

It wouldn't boot out of the box, but booted fine after taking out the battery for a minute and then booting. Note that you have to wait a bit for the POST, I found it helpful to disable that full screen logo crap as there's actually a pretty short window to nail DEL to get in. (Spam TAB until you get to the post window, then spam DEL to get into setup.)

It came up at 4x 200 which I had to manually set to 10x 200. It holds that setting just fine.

After having windows fix my drive (since I just pulled it over from my Athlon 1.3), it works fine at 210 MHz x10. At 215 Mozilla crashes. BIOS shows CPU at 47 C. At this point, I'm just going to chalk up my inability to get a higher bus speed to the RAM until I get some time to tweak it, unless anyone has some rather specific suggestions (as it's been 4 years since I overclocked anything and everything is different now.)

Oh, forgot ot mention that the BIOS on the board is V1.3 (W7030NMS, Jul 28 2004 13:13:30), and it's a CG core.

All you have to do to eliminate the RAM question is set it to 166 and then see if you can do 215 HTT. Also, check the first post for the specific updated BIOS you can use to improve stability.

hi, i am with the same mobo ASROCK K8S8X using latest bios 1.7, and i try everiting to clock with no luck, and there is ... I change my memory modules from 400mhz to 500 mhz and then 250fsb -> 1000 HT,

PCI Latency Timer - 32
PCI IDE Busmaster - enable
HT Width - 16bit
HT Tristate - Enable
CRC Flood - disable

spread specturm -enable
and its working fine, 1 week no blue screen or restarts......

My hard driver is Sata

My previous mobos was Gigabyte Nforce3 150, ASUS K8N-E DELUXE - nforce3 250 and no luck to overclock..... using 2800+ amd 64 - sisoft sandra report thath is 90nm, ClowHammer.. I'm doubt in this information, but aida and other programs report the same.... I try clock amd 64 3000+ and 3200+ but no post in 250FSB.... only 2800+

??? I'm confused. Are you trying to say that you
got a good or bad overclock (the bold part is the
confusing part)?

The Abit KV8 Pro 1.1 with BIOS 1.6 supports mobile A64!!

It will POST and detect correct multiplier. The voltage is wrong though. My 1.4V version is detected as 1.2V one. Didn't test anything as its not my board and I didn't have the opportunity to test longer.

Two things:
Sounds like this is another case of get desktop CPU, flash, then use mobile.
I need some more info like whether it works properly to list it.

im reading anands review right now, but i dont think hes going to mention if mobiles work :( the dfi has some SERIOUS overclock options that i would love to see a mobile take on. if the shipping bios or a bios update supports mobiles the dfi would probably be THE motherboard to oc mobiles on.

Well, it seems that the 1.4v mobiles will not work in the Asus K8N-E Deluxe. System would just shut down right after powering up before anything really powered on. Swithced to a desktop 3000+ and it's all humming along. So far the motherboard has impressed me. As long as you're not using any IDE devices (the fault of nVidia not Asus) this board with the latest remixed drivers seems to be as good as the K8S8X (and that's high praise.) I'll keep playing it with it for another couple of days to confirm my initial impression.

I think you're right, AT probably won't mention mobiles.

People on the Xtremesytems.org forum, however, will.

I had someone ask me so I'll pose the question:

Does the new BIOS for the Chaintech VNF3-250 support mobiles?
