I wish the History Channel could step away from the material covered in our Western-biased public schools and feature some shows about the history of Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Central/South America BEFORE Europeans "discovered" them?

I agree, the History Channel has a multitude of flaws. One being that they use video clips and techniques from things like old movies etc.. that have no historical integrity. the second one being that they hype up everything military as "essential to the existence of america and freedom", when many of the "cool weapons" we see have the sole purpose of neding the lives of other human beings.

Getting kids and people of all ages interested in history is excellent, but I think many times they simply are selective in what they show of a certain topic to paint the image of america being dominant in war, technology, and history.

I'm waiting for the History Channel to show "Modern Marvels - The Paper Clip" and "Modern Marvels - The Shoelace"

Modern Marvels is one of the best shows on TV.

Easily one of the best. I could easily spend a day with History Channel if I was home sick.

You sound like a damn leftist hippie. I think you're depriving a protest march of a protester somewhere.

Please drop the tofu and grow a set.

Wow, aren't you the tough guy.
I enjoy using rifles and pistols for target shooting, does that make me a redneck? No (and actually do enjoy this activity)
Does me noting that the History Channel has a very large pro american military bias make me a tofu eating pothead? No
The fact is that sometimes, especially in regards to conflicts, wars, and weapons, the grandeur overshadows the tragedy of killing and destruction.
History deserves to be told in an objective manner or else it is no more useful to the progress of society than fictional stories, I have a right to notice that the History Channel sometimes makes things out to sound better than they really are.

Just hope the stupid network execs don't turn it into another remodeling/makeover channel a la Discovery and TLC. I can see the the channel circa 2006:

Barracks Surprise - Can three ladies turn the latrines at Fort Bragg into a bathing paradise? Floral patterns and homeopathic lilac scents abound in this episode.

Monster Tank - JESSE JAMES TURNS A M3 BRADLEY INTO THE ULTIMATE TURNIP HARVESTER WITH ONLY $4.19 (PLUS $678,000 IN FREEBIES). WILL HE PULL IT OFF? WILL THIS BE THE END OF THE WORLD AS 28 ACRES WILL HAVE TO HARVESTED BY A GANG OF MEXICAN MIGRANTS?!?!?!? OH NO I CAN'T WATCH!!!!!!!

Extreme Makeover: Camoflauge Edition: Two designers face off to turn drab desert camo into trendy SOHO wear.

American Mess Tent - Experience the heartache and passion of KBR contractors as they push the deadline to heat 650 gallons of canned Beefaroni before the noon deadline. Watch as these American heroes push themselves to the limit to feed the 5439th Tactical Forklift Batallion.

Clean Sweep on the Frontline - Tips to keep sandchiggers and camel dung from ruining your best BDUs.

While You Were Deployed - SSgt Addams is suprised as his platoon turn the barracks into a retro sixties loft while he is out on maneuvers.

Not that I don't like WWII shows, it's just that the History Channel may as well be called the WWII channel. Everytime I turn it on it's another WWII show. Whatever happened to all the other good shows on the History Channel?

Heaven forbid that I don't like senseless killing and arrogant offensives...does that make me a peacemonger? No, it makes me someone who values other things with more value and considers war with more gravity before striking down my fellow man. Thus I think the History Channel skews modern warfare into an adventure story without covering the things people have more difficulty accepting, primarily making the US always the end all of greatness.
Are you somehow cooler or more intelligent than I am more thinking that war is always cool and makes for great TV stories? You haven't actually contributed anything to this thread other than petty namecalling.

I haven't seen it, does it come with the 120 channel Dish Network package? Unfortunately it'll probably become as sucktacular as the History Channel has become. :( How long before they have Trading Spaces: Barracks Edition?

Edit: The History Channel has some good shows, but they're trying too hard to appeal to a mainstream audience now. Can't blame them, bigger audience = more money.
Edit2: Blast, Windogg beat me to it.
