The Microsoft E3 Press Conference Thread

Microsoft's E3 press conference will start in a few hours. Let's talk about it here. What do you think they will show today?

no that was plastation that said the new console will not be announced this year until ps3 4 year life spain is up

Just out of curiosity, what needs to happen with motion-based gaming/input (Wii, Kinect, etc.) for it to no longer be considered 'gimmicky'?

I wonder if there will be anything for the people that don't want the gimmicky kinect crap shoved down their throats.

What are you talking about? The first two games shown are both controller-based. They might offer Kinect voice commands, but I don't see how that is a problem.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize you posted that before it started.

Meh, SmartGlass feature looks relatively useless, and I don't care about having a browser on Xbox.

IE9 on a 360? Christ Almighty, that's going to be painfully slow. There's a reason MS used in-order cores: they didn't need hardware that offered strong general purpose computing performance. This is exactly the kind of thing the hardware is slow at.

Damn, was hoping the HMX announcement would be something other than Dance Central 3. Oh well.

Usher is making this painful to watch. I'm also finding it painful because the Xbox live e3 app crashed 10 minutes in and royally screwed my viewing of the halo trailer and spike apparently can not do any better. Also, xbox live glass is suspiciously similar to AirPlay.

Still, I am glad to see it will becoming to iOS devices too.

so they announced a new gears game for 2013?

is it supposed to be running on 360?

if so it seems like a new MS console may not be as close as we hoped.

lol i like this line from the wired live blog...

9:45 a.m. — You can now say “Take a shot!” instead of just pressing a button. Well, that seems a lot easier. Pressing buttons is a real pain in the ass.

Worst conference in awhile. Ties Sony 2006 and the Nintendo one where they showed Wii music and the heartbeat thing.
