After 24 hours of live news coverage, how do you guys feel the news media handled yesterday's horrific events? Personally, I noticed many of them seemed selfish during the beginning hours and kept hinting at how "this event was :incredible, awesome, unbelieveable..etc." and that it was going to be the highlight of their journalistic career. Later in the day, they eased down on the speculation and seemed more somber and did not have that "lets chase after the ambulance" attitude.

OT: Anyone notice the new newswoman on CNN, Paula Zahn, didn't she use to be on the Fox News Channel, like last week?

Why is the fact that it is going to highlight their journalistic careers not in quotes? Did no one actually say that? If they didn't, then I see nothing wrong with the other words.

CNN conducted an interview with her a couple of weeks ago for her own news show. When FoxNews found out about it they fired her immediately for breach of contract. Apparently, there was a clause in her contract that she was not to interview for other jobs while under contract with FoxNews. CNN picked her up.

I think it is natural for reporters to try and find the right adjectives, metaphors, etc to put the maximum amount of impact on an event. Just part of their training.

Actually, I think one newsguy did say that, but I can't remember on what channel.
