She only tells you what you need to hear.

The choice comes when both Morhpheus and Neo are in the building that gets taken by the agents. If Neo stayed and fought he probably could have freed Morpheus, but because Morpheus sacrifices himself Morpheus is free to realize his potential as the One.

my theory is that since he knew that one of them had to die, and that he wasnt the one, he went to go sacrifice himself to free morpheus since one of them would live.

although it seems reduntant, cuz he probably wouldve surmised that morpheus was going to die anyways without knowing that one of them had to die, and so would go try to help him anyway knowing he wasnt the one...knowing that one or both of them could very well die anyways.

Neo did "die" in the hallway correct? He then "mysteriously" came back to life.

this also makes sense. she told him (or let him tell himself) he wasnt the one, maybe would be in another lifetime, and he knew that one of them was going to die, so he went to go sacrifice himself to let morpheus live since he thought he wasnt the one...then he died, morpheus lived, and he became the one in "another lifetime."

thats what im going with lol

My theory is she doesn't tell the future, only what you need to hear to make the future she wants happen, happen.

I think when he said "I believe I can bring him back" or whatever he said, he implied he thinks fate is bullshit and that he can save him and stay alive.

Aside from my misquote where I sad morpheus instead of neo, I really think this what needs to happen. The one has to realize that even though he is the one he still needs help, which is applicable to most life. The one is nothing without all the support staff, even though most of Neo's support staff died in the final scenes the follow up movies showed that the support staff was still instrumental to Neo's success and the success of humanity.

As was said above:

He has the gift but he's waiting for something - his next life - (before he believes he's the one)

He makes the choice the save Morpheus & gets shot 10 times and his heart stops. He's dead. Just like the Oracle said.

Trinity realizes she loves him, (therefore he's the one) just like Oracle told her.

Neo comes back, (his next life), as the one.

The Oracle is basically the temporal equivalent of a Tom Tom GPS. She can tell you how to get from point A to point B, (hacker Neo to the One), but it's up to you if you want to take the trip.
