The Matrix: Free will?

How do you know we have "free will"? That "free will" could just be perceived and in reality, the computer already has things planned out for us.

Because Neo and the Architect ramble on about "choice" and all that jazz. Its explained that the first version of the matrix was perfect in every way but it failed, nothing more specific than that is given. So the new matrix was made that was more like the real world before the machine war and it included choice. Which was the problem that created Neo in the first place, remember Neo is some weird anomaly in the system that probably shouldn't be there and blah blah feature not bug etc.

So yeah they have free will in the matrix.

That's sort of what I get hung up on.
So I CHOOSE from "free will" to rob a store in the matrix. But the computer (for whatever reason) says "nah, I don't want that to happen", it then just erases that event from everyone's collective memory and resets it. That "free will" event occurred, but is now gone from the collective memory and thus never really happened.

Dreams... Where the most strange things can occur. And sometimes you really have that deja vu feeling when something in real life, resembles what you where "dreaming" about last night or a few days ago. You got that strange sensation that you have experienced it before more or less...

Kinda like when Robert De Niro was irritated he had to pick me up while still in his bathrobe to drop me off at this local mall to meet some chick.

What if you all took the red pill, but you all woke up as women? What if who you "were" in the fantasy world wasn't who you were in "reality"?
