I drove one of those recently.
That and a BMW 745Li.

The conclusion?

BMW makes the best cars in the world.

I just noticed that NFS4 has been here 1 year longer and has 34 times as many posts as I do. :)

BMWs in general are just beautiful. can anyone think of a way to convince my parents to lease a 325xi? (they would never ever lease an M3 cuz it's like 900/month). but a 325xi would do..

Yep, BMW is so good that it's worthy of my sig!

Edit: But worry about their future. Their designs receive a lot of criticism. They aren't up to the same reliability standards as Lexus/Infiniti. They could be better.

They're the only ones worthy of the title 'the ultimate driving machine.'
I've had my 735i for about a year now, and am looking to get a 97 m3. I tried out some other cars (audi a4 in particular), but they felt lacking in every respect.

Yeah, BMW is going downhill in terms of looks :(

so once I finally get a decent job, the only way i'd be able to get a decent BMW is if I purchased a used one (eww) :(

Just test drove a 330i the other day... wonderful machine. The steering wheel is much tighter than what I'm used to (Camry) and the leather seats, leather steering wheel, etc, makes it a tense driving experience..hehe.

The M3 is one sexy car.

But I'm not superficial, I care about what's under the hood as well. :p

How so? The BMW M3 is one of the best looking cars they have produced. And the 745 is also (at least in my opinion).

Don't judge the 745 until you see it in person / have an opportunity to mess around with one.

One thing:

The M3 that I drove had an exhaust note that could only be described as VERY tinny. Is this normal, or is there something wrong with this one in particular?

So a BMW is worthy to be called "the ultimate driving machine", while a McLaren F1 or Ferrari is not?

Personally, I am not impressed with BMW's. I have driven them, and I have driven better cars.

I'd say that the "Ultimate" in cars would be something less sporty than the best sports cars. Less luxurious than the most luxurious cars.

It's the hybrid.

BMW's styling is going in a new direction. Some of it I like, some of it I don't. I've been in a 745 and I see one every day, but I just don't like the looks all that much. It's a very imposing car, but some of the styling details are just not to my taste. There's really no point in arguing over it; styling is subjective.

incorrect, porsche makes the best cars in the world (anything less than a boxter + automatic is not a real porsche)

I decided to keep both the M5 and X5 4.6is. Put the 20" rims back on and just coundn't part with it.
