I, like many others I know, are considering a DVD Burner. I have a couple of questions about the abilities of a DVD Burner. 1) do dvd backups look as good as the originals? 2) do you often get coasters [depending on the burner you have]?] 3) is it easy to backup console dvds (xbox/ps2) and do they play as well as originals? and 4) Are you happy with your burner? Was it a good purchase in your mind? Do you use it enough to justify its existence in your life? Finally, If you are happy, which burner do you have and/or recommend? Thank you.

4. yes.

The other questions are kind of silly. There's already several threads addressing them within the first few pages here.

1) Yes, it's not noticeable. 2) depends on your system (media type being used, burner, system config, etc.). 3) I have no idea. 4) Yes, but I've only used for a couple discs.

Do you use it enough to justify its existence in your life? i use cds whenever i can - dvd media prices are still a bit high for me.
Finally, If you are happy, which burner do you have and/or recommend? NEC ND-2500A! Read the reviews. All praise it. It is also dirt cheap. But dont look for nice front looks however. It looks like a cheap dvd-rw, but performance is top notch. 8x on both dvd-R and DVD+r.

1. Slightly noticable, it depends on the length of the movie being backed up... longer movies have lower quality.
2. I got a couple coasters with my old burner, both were my fault though, I started playing call of duty while I was burning a dvd... stupid mistake, other time I hit cancel too late.
3. Never used it for console dvds... you need a mod chip for these though, and its illegal...
4. I have burned many dvds since getting mine, and yes I can justify its existance in my life... I currently have a Pioneer DVR-A06, I would recommend the DVR-A07. The A07 can burn at 8x, so its a better choice than the burner I have.
