Since no major studio would finance the movie, he funded it with his own cash. That means he reaps most of the profits (deservedly so).

I'm glad Hellboy is still doing well...hopefully it has staying power, as I'd love to see Del Toro (the director, not actor) get more buzz. And it's too bad that the Girl Next Door isn't doing well...it really is a good film, despite Ebert's scathing review.

Its going to have a tough time cracking the Top 5 list domestically. Its going to pass RoTK, but I dont think it will jump Spiderman or Star Wars Phantom Menace. May eventually if they rerelease it every year. It will blow away all previous home video sales records. The worlds most owned home video is a movie about Jesus. The Passion will pass it.
