seeing how Windowsxp sp2 has been put off so long and Long HOrn is in the distant future. I kinda want to stay with WIndows2k Do you think that MicroShaft is going to continue to provide support for windows 2k in the forseeable future? also, are the drivers going to be geared more and more towards xp and less towards 2k, will speed and stability be signifcantly differant anytime soon?

Of course. Lots of corporations and professionals (including myself) are using 2k. This is the best OS that MS has ever produce, and I see no reason whatsoever to stop supporting it. Hotfixes are coming out almost on a weekly basis and service packs once a year.

Dont worry, Windows 2K will be around for a few years yet.
Driver support will also continue, with many drivers being compatible between 2K and XP.

Win2k dies March 31, 2008. The detaills to Microsoft desktop lifecycles are in the link.

yeah, but its gonna be hacking and coughing for a year or two before that. its still got support, though, but by that time, you'll want to switch to a newer OS, anyways. who uses Win98 now?
