the little taskbar preview thingy in Vista, useful or useless?

if you put your mouse over the taskbar on the apps for a couple of seconds, a mini-popup preview will appear.
it's so small, you really can't see anything.
it's probably faster clicking or alt-tabbing to the app to see.

i vote useless.
 
I actually have found it useful. When playing a game and traveling to a location, I flip over to a web page or something and use the preview to check if i have reached my location.
 
Seems more like a quirk than anything, it's really too small to check status. But I think its cool, so why not.
 
I use vista but never noticed that because I just use alt-tab...or really just click what I need - I have lots of screen real estate.

I find it useful, like when something is installing and I have it minimized. Just hover over it and I can check the installation status and continue watching horse pron.
 
I thought it was kind of cool... possibly useful if you have a bunch of browser or e-mail windows open for example (if I'm looking for a particular e-mail window, I would probably recognize its contents by the shape of the text).

Unfortunately that feature doesn't work with the Windows Classic theme (or whatever they call it now), so I never used it.
 
Useful. I used it just last night as I loaded Call of Duty 4 on a PC and it maximized the screen, which in turn covered three other windows I had open as well. I alt-tabbed to another window, then was able to monitor the progress of the installer without having to alt-tab back to it (covering the other screens in the process, which I still wanted to view as well).
 
I have Vista Ultimate and IMO, it's a nice piece of eye candy, bot otherwise not all that useful. It's not like it's all that tough to click on the window in question, or use either the alt-tab trick, or a middle-click of the mouse to scroll through the various windows.

I use it sometimes to get a quick peek at my IM window. I'll often ignore messages and since it starts blinking at the first IM, I like to look to see if more have arrived.
