I have seen the Royal Tenenbaums and Bottle Rocket and both were so horribly unfunny that I could never see this.

It is hip to like Wes Anderson, though.

I'm tired of these pseudo comedies that seem to be all the rage lately. They just are not funny, nor are they at all entertaining. All the *snicker* lines are in the previews.

A lot of people hate it because they just don't get it. It not the same tired humor you see in every other stupid comedy that comes out these days. If you want one-liners and boring cliched characters go watch Meet the Fockers.

That's the thing, RT was just not funny. It was completely forgettable.

exactly. it's a matter of taste. i will definitely be going to see this film.

I hate it when people say "oh, you just dont get it" when talking about these so-called intellectual comedies. It's like they're trying to elevate themselves over everyone else because they laugh at the high-brow comedy instead of the screwball antics of Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I 'get' Rushmore and Royal Tenenbaums, I just didnt think they were funny at all. The most either of those turds did was make me crack a smile. I like to have pain in my stomach from laughing.

Your sh!t stinks just like everyone else's.

I hate it when people think I'm a movie snob because I like "high-brow comedy". I wasn't trying to insult anyone, it just gets annoying when people write off these movies without ever giving them a chance. I like simple comedies, but they're a dime a dozen. I understand our tastes differ, but that doesn't mean you have to come in here and sh!t on my parade, telling me that the movies I like aren't really funny and I'm only doing it to be hip.

You gotta have a lot of friends to enjoy a movie like Life Aquatic... I saw it with a group of 9 or so and we spent another 40 minutes outside the theatre pointing out things that happened in that movie.. Like (caution, slight inconsequential spoiler)...

Steve's (bill murray) up in the balloon with the reporter (Kate Blanchet) and he calls in to have the balloon taken down. But then, he turns on the burner right after to light his blunt.

That's the type of stuff you don't notice always the first time you see the film... With a group of buddies, we started pointing out every hilarious thing that happened.

Saw it, much better than Meet the Fockers - but not at the same level as Rushmore or Royal Tennebaums.
It wasn't as tight as the previous two.

the movie had its moments, but my favorite Wes Anderson film is still Rushmore.

"these are O.R. scrubs..."

"O.R. they?"

Don't go see that movie. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I didn't expect that from a movie with an IMDB rating of 7.4.

"simple" comedies are not a dime a dozen. They are rare and wonderful.

I don't care if you like different things than I do. I do care that you judge me to be lesser in some ways because the things you like are "high-brow" and somehow better. Can't we all just be friends?

/goes off to watch hee-haw reruns

This movie was awesome. I expected it to be OK, but it exceeded expectations by quite a bit. Really funny. Bill Murray rules!

it's pretty good, but not as tight as royal tennenbaums....I think alot of people are disappointed because it's a little darker than you expect.

I just saw it and I thought it was great, it's got some slow parts and their are some joke you miss cause of pacing and accents of the characters but over all it's great. the only thing I didn't like about it was then ending cause it's bittersweet. I can understand why some people wouldn't like because it's a style of comedy that's targeted to a particular audience...I mean you'll either love it or hate it, so if you didn't like Rushmore or RT then don't see this. But whether or not you think this funny anyone can agree Bill Murray is great and I want Zissou addidas(s/p?)
