The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale Test what's your score?

Your score:
0(fear) + 6(avoidance) = 6
You do not suffer from social anxiety.

🙄 What was there to be afraid of in those scenarios? I can understand avoiding some of them...or even many of them, but fear?

It's a mental health condition. Hence why it's been studied and a standardized scale like this produced. If you rate low on the scale you don't have said condition, if you rate high then chances are you do. Like ADHD or autism spectrum disorder it's something you have or don't. You don't. 🙂

I hate parties and I hate drinking in public. I also don't try to chat up women for romantic reasons (happily married).

total score: 30.

Before I was married 4 years ago: Total score 98.

It's not so much a fear like when you think you're going to die. It's more of a arresting feeling that keeps you from functioning properly; I think I'm just pulling this out my butt.

Serious? I mean serious that you've taken the test before and scored that high?

Yep. I had serious social anxiety. Now I stand infront of classes to present lectures, argue in the small-groups that are my Ph.D. classes and don't mind at all taking a piss in public or demanding a refund for a broken product.

Honestly, I think getting married (read EVER having sex, thank you Jesus) and having kids did something to me bio-psychologically.

Nice to hear! To be honest I don't have any issues with pissing in public or returning things, though I can understand why those are there and why others might. I score much higher in other areas of the test.

35. I'd say my score is about right. I prefer close friends and smaller group settings. I don't get anxiety, I just prefer more intimate gatherings with people I know. Then, I don't know that I answered correctly. I put a 2 on avoidance for speaking/acting/etc in front of an audience, and I actually do better than most at that, but I don't ever have any situations where I do that any more.

I also really hate someone looking over my shoulder as I'm working/doing something. I don't know why, but I just pretty much stop what I'm doing.

Sounds to me like your score should be lower. Anxiety in this case is a feeling of fear, not dislike.

20.

I'm 31, ten years ago I'm sure I would've scored higher. Now I'm married, have 2 kids, and a job that forces me to be more social than ever. I have more "fear" than avoidance..

Yeah, I think I didn't answer it right. I just plain don't do some of that so I put like a 2 (i.e. throwing parties). I put a 3 for being observed while working or writing.

It works like every other phobia... Why do some people crap their pants when they see a spider? I find that more illogical than this

0. I guess being socially reserved is different than social anxiety.

I like going out, but also like staying home after. I enjoy public speaking & getting to know someone new. But sometimes I like just doing nothing at home.
