The left side of Bush's mouth

Gravity

If you watch W's lips during the last debate, the left side of his mouth is drooping slightly and not as flexible as the other. I wonder if this is some nervous disorder or onset of some stroke-like ailment.

I also noted that spittle gathered on the right corner of his mouth early on in the debate.

I'm not trolling, just observing. I previously posted about a letter in the Atlantic magazine that suggested that bush suffered from classic signs of parkinsons.

Anyone care to comment on the left side of W's mouth?

It was grey - a "dry spot" in the corner of his mouth. People who speak a ton get them from the constant speaking, wetting, drying, re-wetting. My boss gets them all the time.

Cold sores are red.

The fervent Talk Show Host down here addressed that this morning. He thought Bush may be suffering from Bell's Palsy which can be brought on by extreme anxiety and nervousness.

I can attest to that.

I came down with a case of the Bell's Palsy after the Indictment but before I went to Jail. It lasted about 3 weeks.

If Bush feels so strongly about his record then why is he worrying so much??? 😕

Lotta wishful thinking in here 🙂

I don't know what to make of it.

I too am a frequent public speaker, and I tend to talk (and, more noticeably, to smile) out of one side of my mouth (literally, not figuratively!).

I'm not sure where that tendency comes from, but I've noticed that VP Cheney and Drew Barrymore, among many others, also tend to do this. I'd rather I didn't do it, but it's a habit that's nearly impossible to break. I know I have never had a stroke or any other neurological disorder.

One strange aspect of this phenomenon, when it comes to President Bush, is that it appears to have developed (or at least become more pronounced) over time.

Bush's mouth has been that way since he was young. The Frontline show on PBS had video of Bush in his early 20s. Even then he had the left-side droop. Supposedly, his Yale friends even had a nickname for him because of it (The Lip, or something like that.)

Could be a 'Smirk' got stuck there.

My wife noticed from the previous debate - and here too,
that when he gets exasperated or angry he moves his
lower jaw from side to side.

i get that dry spot sometimes. i can always feel it though, and a sip of water fixes it up.
the saggy smile is sort of creepy. i wondered the same thing.

my friend has bell's palsey that periodically paralyzes the right or left (I forget) side of his face, but most times he can still function and communicate. this may be what (if anything) bush suffers from. it's not all that life threatening or anything, just a severe inconvienence sometimes.

That's the first thing I noticed. Then the drool/spittle in the right corner of his mouth. At first I thought he'd had a slight stroke but was still man enough to get out there. But, then he started in with his cackling and laughing and scoffing. I've read elsewhere some think he got a Botox injection to hide the smirk.

Personally, I think he was on Vicodin or something. He was hopped up on something. Those damn evil-sounding cackles just gave me goosebumps.

Stroke, Bell's Palsy, presenile dimentia, wnatever you call it or whatever caused it, we are looking at more than idiosyncrasies here.

I haven't noticed it at all in previous debates, did anyone else?

No, this round he looked like sh!t. He was very pale, looked like he hasn't slept in a week.

All the make up couldn't help and the drool told the story.

I think Dick has something to do with that, go figure! I'm sure he had a little tête a tête with Dick prior..

No comment on Kerry's constant needing to wet his mouth in the second debate? I thought he looked like he was scared silly or lying.

Why don't you get up and talk in 2-minute spurts for 90 minutes and see how dry your mouth gets.

When are you liberals gonna give up and quit trying to think that if liberals do drugs, everyone must. How many millions have you spent trying to get some drug use evidence on Bush? That was the whole thing about his missed physical - admit it! The dirtiest trick was getting Larry Flynt to offer an award for any woman other his wife who had sex with Bush in the Gore campaign.

Why does Kerry?s face look like he smokes three packs a day? I have never seen him smoke. The sun could do that, but not that bad. Does he smoke something else on a regular basis that would erode his facial tissue like that?

You think that running the country AND prepareing for these useless debates may be something of a challenge. Kerry is basically unemployed and can focus all of his time on the campaign.
