With the 1 hour special and this article being pulled by ESPN, I am sure ESPN is Lebrons bitch just as the NBA is.

Five security guards are stationed around him, one at each corner of the table he’s about to sit at and another roving around with him, watching his every move. Anyone who takes two steps toward James is stopped and must have James’ approval to come closer.
The waiter bringing him his cup of green tea with a spoonful of honey and a dash of lemon juice makes the cut, as does the scantily clad brunette with a tattoo of a heart on her right shoulder.

I don't even see anything that bad in that article. He just seems like a typical egotistical person. Of course celebrities/stars are going to be that way more than most people, as generally they can point to accomplishments that back it up. I've seen more than my share of people who are just as egotistical and they have nothing to show for it.

1. Kobe's NOT as popular as Lebron
2. Kobe's NOT as good of a ball player
3. Kobe's only ranked higher than James on most hated athlete lists. I've seen Kobe on 4 of these lists, yet I've never seen Lebron on a single one hummm...

The douchiness of both of them is pretty equal, so I'm going to say James > Bryant. Kobe's only popular with Laker fans, and not surprising every single Lakers fan will act like Bryant is the most popular athlete in the world. Which is not even close to true.

oh man you just insulted my team, i totally took that personally as ive been a part of every move geoff petrie has made since he was hired. my day has thusly been ruined.

i have a feeling i wouldnt like almost any ball player in real life. but as far as how they approach their sport, I like Kobes attitude better. he comes off as dude who lives and breathes basketball. Lebron doesnt seem to have the same focus for the thing that makes him famous. maybe it just comes easier to him than kobe. i could be wrong as i dont actually know either of them. but i do know that i think try to "copy" jordan isnt a bad thing as far as basketball is concerned.

maybe a passionate sports fan like yourself thinks in terms of "hugging nuts". i dont see it that way. ive come to respect kobe over the years, even through all the (mostly one-sided) beef during our playoff battles. dude wants it.

while both kobe and lebron are big babies and douchebags, only kobe has publicly cried and threatened to have his own teammates traded. kobe also publicly threatened to leave the lakers for the clippers lulz, after proclaiming he "always wanted to be a laker" bullshit. enough so that jerry west threw his former team a free all star center to carry kobe back to the finals for a few more rings.

oh, kobe quit in the playoffs just like lebron. remember the suns series where kobe quit after the media grilled him on ballhogging? lulz.

i see it like this:

Kobe is the perfectionist dickhead movie director who makes great movies. even though he doesnt always cover himself in glory through his actions, theres really no question its still about the movie. i dont like him, but i respect him.

Lebron is the incredibly talented actor who america falls in love with, is a natural on screen, and has tons of great roles but wont shut the fuck up about his political views and his new charity organization. he starts to think its him thats the big deal, not what he was doing on screen. you dont want to, but you grow to hate him.
